GAA Discussion / Re: GAAGo and other gripes

There are vast areas in the country particularly rural areas who don't have broadband and these people have no access to these games.

Walter are you defending the behaviour? Are you suggesting the post is lies? Do you need evidence ie a conviction before you do not want to be associated with him?

All I'm saying is we're very quick to jump on here. Gallagher's sideline behaviour is certainly not great. Does that make him a wife beater? No. If found guilty he should have the book thrown at him..until he's found guilty though we have to presume he's innocent. This would apply to any supposed crime.

I'm afraid social media doesn't afford people that anymore.

Worst kept secret in Derry, sad to say a lot of people knew what he was at and turned the other way.

Yeah, there have been nothing but bad things to say about that man over the years even though nothing concrete had been said there were always rumours about him and the bad hoor of man that he is. Looking back now all the stories and rumours have foundations to them, it's just not normal to do them things (if they're true). How can you beat someone like that and them carrying your child too. Jasus I just don't know.
From a Derry perspective it's just rotten timing too with Sunday's game on the horizon but them lads should throw him to the lions (cops) and get on with their job. John Brennan quit his job with Swatragh a few days ago so maybe he can come in and help out until they get someone permenant in...

I know it's a serious topic but you have to be taking the piss with that one....Realistically if Gallagher does step aside which I'd imagine the likes of McKaigue, Glass and the other senior players will probably ask of him to get rid of some of the negative attention around the teams then Muldoon and Meenagh will take over control.

You don't know much about an elite set up if you think players are gonna ask him to step aside.

Why is this only coming out now? The mob are quick to jump on it. How do we know her account hasn't been hacked? Innocent til proven guilty is it not?

Why does it matter that it is only coming out now it looks like the poor woman has only got the strength now to deal with it.

I doubt it is hacked there are comments from people that she has confided in over the years under the post.

Absolutely awful. Has there been a police investigation? Is he going to be charged?

Well she only posted it at 10pm last night. So very early days.

Derry Co Board will not want to have do deal with this so close to Sunday, but deal with it they must. These are very serious allegations.

I doubt if we will be seeing him on Sunday or ever again along the line the media will go into overdrive on this now and rightly so.

So, no tickets through ticketmaster.ie.
All through the clubs.
Wonder how many people will be at their first county game this year, ( or indeed many years)
But as far as the GAA is concerned F@&K those of us who travelled to Roscommon and Kerry to support our team.

What do you want them to do the capacity is not there and the protocol is to look after the members.

The foundations of the GAA is based on volunteerism and the clubs. Those members should always be sorted first. If then tickets are left over for non members then great but if not then it is tough unfortunately.
At least it isn't on GAAGO.

I agree with the principle, but it doesn't account for volunteers/member who no longer live in their home county.

Nothing to stop them from supporting the local club and paying their membership anyway.

Rte say they can't show them all, every game in the women's World Cup will be shown live this summer.
Look at their press release last October 24th. Right at the business end of the hurling and football year.
I doubt RTE will have multiple cameras at the women's World Cup games.

This could be a good game but it's guaranteed to be a massive occasion. There are 3 other provincial finals in the the offing for which there is little or no noise and very little anticipation.

Hopefully it's better than last years snorefest anyway what was happening on the field sucked the energy and excitement from the crowd.

Group 1
Cavan 15/8
Offaly 7/1
Laois 20/1
London 150/1

Group 2
Meath 5/1
Down 11/2
Tipp 40/1
Waterford 150/1

Group 3
Limerick 12/1
Wicklow 40/1
Longford 33/1
Carlow 100/1

Group 4
Fermanagh 7/1
Antrim 20/1
Wexford 50/1
Leitrim 33/1

Pre draw odds to win Tailteann

The thing is that winning your group in this (and in Sam) is key so Group 4 might not be a bad group to be in for Fermanagh as they got the 2nd weakest 2nd seed, the weakest 3rd seed and the strongest 4th seed.

Can't figure out how Cavan are such strong favorites for this apart from a few good performances in the early stages of the league (which i now put down to been further ahead on fitness than the opposition) the last few games have been poor.

underage managers who picks winning trophies over development is a massive reason of the drop off in the GAA

+1.

I find it a little shocking that kids at U12 are being sidelined and getting a lot less game exposure due to the manager wanting to win every game by playing his strongest 15.  Without the match exposure, how will a child ever improve ... lack of game time and associated coaching results in kids walking away, and that pisses me off at younger age groups.

It's a big problem and one that causes many's a row between parents and coaches.

Unfortunately, it seems that tomorrow will be the only day with rain in the week. The forecast is pretty accurate with only a day to go.
As for GAAgo, NowTV might have been better value for a few big games, but for other counties you would still have to use GAAgo.

Not good when my stand seat doesn't have a roof  :o

It looks ok for match time. It is going to be cold though.

Wonder does everyone know this is on GAA Go not on BBC/RTE. This probably the first weekend there's some big matches exclusively on GAA Go, interesting what the reaction will be I'd say there will be a few complaints. I didn't like Sky but it was a lot more accessible for many and pubs etc.

Derry Monaghan again is exclusively GAA Go also. I'd say a lot of people aren't subscribed to it on season pass.
Yeah, games on Sky Sports were effectively free for those who were paying for Sky anyway. Expensive for those who weren't but had the option of subscribing and getting a lot more than just GAA, or heading round to the local. It will be interesting to see if many pubs make the effort to go the GAAGo route.

But if Sky were showing one game this weekend on Sky Sports and the rest on Sky Box Office at 12 bob a pop, there would be absolute uproar. The fact that's effectively what we're getting with RTE/GAAgo this weekend has gone under the radar alright.

It won't be under the radar for long once they games start coming thick and fast and people can't get watching them there will be uproar.

Cavan torn between acting the candy men or being bullish on an internet forum, dilemmas.

Cavan are no doubt waiting in the long grass but Armagh are well well warned, beat Antrim with half a team and gave the Cavan management team very little to go on. It'll be very interesting to see our line up.

Hopefully it will be a good game anyway both managements will have to put a good bit of though into the match ups on the field as Graham won't know if Armaghs injured players are back and will have to plan for a few different scenarios. Likewise Armagh will probably have a good idea of 13 of the starting Cavan team but where 2 or 3 of them line up will be interesting (McVetty, McKiernan, James Smith.
