Now that the Aussies aren't coming is there any thing that can be done between now and the Autumn to raise the profile of The Railway Cup? I see Mickey Harte alluded to it this morning in his column but it would appear that the players and the paying public are unwilling to give it the recognition and status it deserves. Is the timing or organisation of the fixtures wrong? In other codes and other countries "State of Origin" type games are well attended and high profile. In this very important year in the history of the association surely we can do something similar to the opening of the National League and restore this once great competition to its rightful place. If we fail to achieve such a thing this year we might as well consign it to history.

I know we have been reassured that the surface will not be a problem this weekend but I am not convinced. I remember a match in Croker a number of years ago after a concert had taken place the previoius weekend and a young Dublin Minor I think it was suffered a very bad ankle injury when he tried to go past an opponent and a large divot gave way. Hoping the same does not happen this weekend. Imagine some memebers of The GPA suffering such an injury!!!!! The legal implications could have wider ramifications than The Morris Tribunal

With the race for Sam down to the last 9 teams and Tommy Carr seemingly ready for the chop in Cavan, which managers are under most pressure to "deliver" this weekend? Will there be others like Carr who might not be around when the NFL gets underway next year?

After watching the games at the weekend and listening to the views expressed by many GAA patrons regarding the standard and consistency of refereeing, what should we be looking for from the officials this weekend ?
Also (a) which ref would you like to have to referee your game this weekend ?
      (b) which ref would you least like to see officiating at your game this weekend ?
