GAA Discussion / Re: Who are the team of the decade?

i agree mid louth tyrone have been hit hard with various senarios that make it difficult to retain titles however as i pointed out kerry had to retire a few and re style their play from 2003 & 2005 and if you look at the kerry team sheet for those years to today there are familiar faces but a wave of new ones also.

tragedy does not give the rite to supremicy so with all the if's buts and because's heard its titles and appearances that count at the end of the day and to quote one of the lads its a no brainer medals are the currency of the day

not one arguement to support why tyrone cant win year after year but pointless slags like shite etc... put a propper arguement together and explain why kerry come back year after year and tyrone dont??

we too have had our contraversy, injuries & knockbacks........ and i guess unless you come out of ulster then the wins dont count?

obviously i am fighting a loosing battle here because no one seems interested in argueing a point but are just looking for self praise..
so well done again tyrony ye are self named team of the decade when is the award cermony???

in fairness what county do you think the majority of those posters come from????

any posts i have seen from non Tyrone/Kerry posters are going for Kerry so i take as much notice of those figures as you do of kerrys 4 all irelands compared to your 3.

I note you picked out that point from my post rather than coment on the fact of back to back all irelands and player absences??

Seems to me you guys have convinced yourselves so its unanimous Tyrone think they are team of the decade.

congratulations !!!!!!!!!

if a few guys retire or get injured like those of kerry (O'CANAIDE, HASSETT, MOYNIHAN,FITZMAURICE, MCCARTHY.ETC.ETC all first team players ) I Still expect you will be back in the final next year. because if the second placed team "team of the decade" can re group after defeat and come back and win tow BACK TO BACK All irelands finals surely you guys can too or is that a bridge too far for the champions??

I have great respect for tyrone football and fans but some of you guys are really clutching at straws when the decade still hangs in the balance!

IF TYRONE ARE TO CONVINCE ME THEY ARE TRULY THE TEAM OF THE DECADE I WOULD EXPECT THEM TO APPEAR IN AT LEAST ONE BACK TO BACK FINAL TO CLAIM THE TITLE.

BOTH PADDY POWER & BOYLE SPORTS HAVE THEM IN  SECOND SPOT TO FAVOURITES KERRY FOR THE 2009 CHAMPIONS.

SO FROM MY VIEW  IF TYRONE DONT WIN A BACK TO BACK 2008 & 2009 OR DONT MAKE THE FINAL FOUR YOU HAVE NO RITE TO THE TEAM OF THE DECADE TITLE.

REASON FEWER ALL IRELAND MEDALS & NO CONSISTENCY.

BUT AGAIN WELL DONE SUNDAY YOU DESERVED YOUR WIN

meaningless poll, whats wrong with 2009 is there not going to be an all ireland final??

be patient and re apply this poll again next year when the decade comes to a close

and for arguments sake say kerry wipe the floor with tyrone would that victory not count or vise versa.

its like asking who won the race without a sprinter yet at the starting line

Well done Tyrone you won fair & square you had more hunger & upset the kerry style of play while counter attacking with great effect.

however to be a the team of this decade lets see a back to back then you can claim the title of team of the decade.
until then kerry are a shoe in. and i hope tyrone make it to the final next year as we will undoubtably be there again.

if teams buckle in a final like 2006 & 2007 that is not fair to call it a soft all ireland but more a reflection of the way kerry took control of the game from throw in.

kerry never got going yesterday and completely changed their game plan that cost them aswell as a few poor decisiond in front of goal.

its been a tough season the league final, galvin, cork  & cork again and the mighty tyrone. thanks pat o'shea you are only human and came up against a man of mick o'dwyers caliber there was only going to be one winner.

great teams bounce back and we have our goals firmly in sight for 2009 to win the cup claim the title of team of the decade and meet & beat tyrone along the way.

Tyrone may have to adapt their game if the kerry half back line holds up whitch i feel they will so the next option is a high ball.

tyrone have played a running game up until now as have kerry but come sunday the quickest route may win out as the half backs on both sides are able footballers.

surely his fielding at fullback would be better than tom o'sullivans remember corks late goal, and padraig reidy is not renound for his speed although i think he is a fine footballer?

i guess pat o shea has the inside line but from an observor point of view i think since he has come into defence for kerry fewer questions have been asked.

His phisical presence alone makes a big difference, i bet tyrone would prefer to have reidy rather than griffin.

Nice one rrhf and the same sentiments back re the good wishes, may the best team win and lets hope there is no bad call by a ref that will have either side moaning afterwards.

although alot of the media put kerry as favourites the tyrone team is an opponent we have alot of footballing respect for in kerry, this year especially and i dont think anyone expects tyrone to give up until the last whistle.

i think Galvin will make a huge influence when introduced and if the tyrone half back line get a bit of momentum i could see galvin on the pitch within the first 20 minutes if he doesnt start.

do team sheets matter who really thinks tommy griffin wont start sunday?? unless he has an injury.

up the kingdom and three cheers for tyrone we have enjoyed the ride

In reply to BOGBALL (the stupid system) this system was brought in to give teams a second chance and many i wont say all  were in favour of it until teams like Kerry were to avail of it.

Once kerry get an all ireland win via the back door. then the tune changes to it not being so fair after all .  strange that??.

the not so new system has diluted the provincial finals and that is a proven fact in munster.

kerry have one aim at the start of each year as opposed to other teams to win the all ireland bypassing the munster final so if we mess up on the way our main goal is still in sight, that is not to say the munster final is not worth winning but it is not the holy grail that is sam mcguire. if we reverted back to the old way kerry would not be loosing as many munster finals as it would be crucial to the overall aim.

i think if you offered cork a win over kerry in the munster final or say an oppertunity to win in the all ireland final over tyrone (kerry having been beaten by someone in the qualifiers) which they would take??  i think the all ireland.

what the new system has done effectively is put the best of all of the teams in the qualifiers and see who is good enough to come out on top.

i dont agree with the system because i feel it dilutes an all ireland final win but i do think the worthy champion comes out on top in the end.

whom ever wins on the 21st they will have fully deserved their win because after a hefty league campaign they have come through and beaten the best the code has to offer and both teams in the final have shown they are getting better as the campaign comes to a close.

here is to a good game and a kerry win hopefully
