LOO-LESS Longford   :o

Laois supporters heading to Pearse Park in Longford face a moisture laden evening - and I'm not talking about the weather. The Laois Nationalist has learned that there will be no toilet facilities available at the venue on Saturday.

It appears that Liam Madden, who played for and captained both Longford football team and Longford Town soccer team has been supported by An Bord Pleanála in his appeal against Longford Town Council for granting permission to the Longford County Board to retain toilets built during the refurbishment of Pearse Park.

In an order made on June 30, An Bord Pleanála state that the three toilet blocks at Pearse Park shall not be used until necessary works are carried out to the satisfaction of the local authority.

If the proper toilet facilities are not available to supporters, I was wondering would this be grounds for Laois County Board to seek a postponement of the game or at least have the game transferred to another venue? I'm only asking.

It might be a novel way of Niall Rigney getting his wish to have the two games played on different days.

It would take the pressure off, if you'll excuse the pun, the authorities. Surely we can't expect our supporters to hold onto their pints of Guinness or even cups of teas for an hour and a half, especially if is an exciting game and we are all jumping up and down with enthusiasm.

No probs with the toilets.
