2nd last training run for Belfast marathon done. I fell through the door in 2 hours 45 minutes having done just over 20 miles (the last mile or two all uphill). There's a bit of doubt creeping in now as I was totally wrecked after that - I'd find it hard to believe I'll get another 6 mile done on top of that. The only hope I'm holding on to is I'll be doing slightly more before the marathon (planning 22 next weekend) and I did a fairly fast 10 mile on Friday past (fast for me anyway) so I won't be recovering from that come 5 May. Really looking forward to doing it, but also looking forward to it all being over and getting back down to 5k/5 mile runs

I did my first (and only) ever marathon last year.  The first time I did a 20 mile training run, I was shocked at how hard it was near the 20 miles and I was finishing slightly downhill for the last 2 miles.  Got home in about 2hrs 56mins, doing just over the 20 miles.  I'd always heard ones saying about hitting the 20 mile wall!  I think there was 5 walls!!  The next week I did a 22 mile run (same route just a bit farther out of town), I was expecting the same again, but I was prepared for it this time.  Got through the 20 mile mark no bother as I was "ready" for it.  Although I just hit a 22 mile wall instead!!

You'll be grand.  I did about 20 miles of Belfast marathon last year (last 4 legs of relay run), I would definately say that if you know any of the route that you are running its a big help (maybe all in the head).  Also, don't get carried away at the start because (certainly in my case), it'll come back to haunt you in the final stages.  Good luck.

I'd love to see Vertongen at liverpool next season , he would be a good fit for the team i think

He's a very good player in fairness. Just looks to have lost interest a bit at Spurs in recent months with all the turmoil there. At the right club he could easily be a very good player again.

He was in the PFA team of the year last year not that bad,

No way boys, as a Spurs fan, watching alot of their games, he's playing terrible this year.  Slow as Christmas.  Infact every defender Spurs have are rubbish.  The first thing they needed to do with the Bale money was buy a new back 4, a blind man could have seen that, instead they bought a pile of midfielders and a striker, joke.  But wrong thread for that rant!!!

Why is the same player a regular for a Quality Belguim side, along side players like Hazard, Kompany, Vertongen. International football is slower pace but he obviously has ability to make the Belguim team on a regualar basis. Injuries haven't helped his time at UTD  and needs a settled position

I wouldn't put "quality" and "Vertongen" in the one sentence, "useless" and "Vertongen" ... maybe.

Get a dreambox and Sky can shove their subscriptions for watching GAA matches up their hole!!

You get the whole shooting gallery of channels and can watch sport all weekend until your hearts content!!

Anyone doing the Omagh half marathon tomorrow.

In for it myself, seems to be a fairly big one with over 3,000 registered apparently.

Nothing in great shape and running been irregular but have a few 10-12 milers under the belt the last few weekends. Will enjoy it and not worry too much about the time. PB is 1.36 for the one and only half that i've raced, don't think i'll beat that tomorrow, should be going on times last year but not to that level yet.

I'm doing it too, did it last year and it is well run.

If you go for a cup of tea in the middle of the race, then get lost on the way round for a while (probably a long while), I might get close to you at the finish line!!

Bills too high though at 78 quid a month need to start cutting it down and if i thought the BT sport would show the premiership games etc that they all watch then it would be worth getting rid of it.

Get a dream box!!  Not sure if you ever heard of them or not!!  Just don't tell Sky as they wouldn't be most pleased about it.  There was a thread on them a while ago.

They are supposed to be worth the money  ;) ;)  and would probably work out at less than £10 per month after you first buy one.

Can you get RTE 1, RTE 2 & TG4 via them?
Is the signal received via a satelite dish or broadband?

Signal comes via a satellite dish, and yes you should get RTE 1, RTE 2 & TG4 plus on that SkyBox my mum gets all HD channels

Think some channels come via satellite but most (mainly sky ones) need to have a live broadband connection to receive, otherwise picture will be "scrambled" and cannot be viewed.  Up in the North, RTE 1 & 2, TV3 and TG4 need the internet connection to work.

So they tell me  ;)

And how would one go about getting one of these and getting it hacked....
A friend wants to know.

If you're up the north looking one, a friend of a friend might have a number for a boy who knows a boy, let me know sure!! ;)

Jack - whats your internet speed?

Speed usually about 15 or 16 Mbps. Internet speed shouldn't be the problem. Not sure if sky have caught on to our man's frequencies or however they work it. During English football at the minute it skips/freezes a lot, might be sky copping on. Not as bad on other channels though but still jumps a bit. Installer mite change my box by the sounds of him soon.

Also, don't actually think that they are illegal, just something that sky are not too keen on as it rips them off.  When I was giving off to sky how dear their packages are, they told me that I wouldn't get that choice for cheaper.  I said I'd see about that, and the Sky rep told me that if I got it cheaper anywhere to go ahead!  So they indirectly gave me permission to get a dreambox installed!!!!

They are a box/receiver where you get all the channels that you would expect from sky and others.

I started this as I just got one installed recently.  Mines freezes quite often even though it is supposed to be working off 2 different servers.  Watching football on the sports channels is a disaster for freezing, has anyone else experienced the same.  Wouldn't mind it freezing the odd time but its sometimes hard to watch.  Thanks.

Has anyone got one of these in the house instead of Sky?

Are they any good?
