He means the powerhouses of the 26.

In all fairness I made the comment as a tongue in cheek comment. Thought the Derry wans wouldn't have took the bait so easily.

Football in general has become "softer", gone are the days of the gallant hits and not showing the chink of weakness that the Derry men of yesteryear typified. All counties have those that will go down holding their face at any oppertunity.

Unfortunately McKindless has now joined a evergrowing rank of players that have a blemish on their own reputation.

100% correct and more's the pity. Any player cheating should be cited and retrospectively banned.

I am glad Derry seem to be playing with a bit of fire in their belly.

Tyrone are a good side and will do well this year. (Hopefully i am wrong about this)

Jaysus Im kinda ragin that things got so mad on here with the inbreds and I missed out on it.

Just watched the highlights on bbc there and read thru this thread, looked like a great game. Thought Scullion comments afterwards where spot on just two teams goin at it hell for leather. Injuries where unfortunate McCann looked to be completely going for the ball, just one of those things.

At the same time it must be seriously sickening for the inbreds to commit so fully into putting a marker down against Tyrone twice and end up on their ass both times. Indeed Barton's charge and dump was maybe a very good analogy for Derrys effort in these two matches

I have heard it all now.A Tyrone person calling someone an inbred. Nearly fell off my chair laughing, crazy stuff.  :o :o :o :o

Emmet McGuckin is a big strong fella and would have been better off biding his time and waiting for his opportunity to get McCarron back on the pitch.

I can't get over how serious people are taking the McKenna cup.

Good man Screen. You indeed were one of my main targets that I thought about when opening this can of worms.

So for you Tyrone are by far the dirtiest team is that right?
Would you say Derry were squeaky clean back in the early nineties? Open question, no need to be defensive.
Would you say Barton will make ye a tougher nut to crack than in recent years.

Not saying we were squeaky clean at all far from it. . . our team of the early nineties had no sneaky boys on it though they could give a slap and take a slap not that nasty stuff your lads would have been at with all the trash talking, grabbing balls, dropping knees etc.

Barton can only do so much. We don't have the players we are very much in a rebuilding phase this year. Maintaining Div. 2 status and getting to an Ulster Final would be the goal this year I would say. By rights you should beat us out the gate in the first round but we have a habit of lifting our game against the old enemy and I'd say Barton is peaking for that. After that you'd fancy it 50/50 against Armagh and then we'll get beat by a more seasoned team like Monaghan/Donegal.

My own preference would be for us not to bow out meekly in the Qualifiers. If we get beat by a team that are better than us so be it but this shite the last few years of getting beat by Galway/Longford/Cavan isn't on! We've supposedly been a division 1 team the last 3 years!!

I would have said that Johnny McGurk was as sneaky as they get.

I saw "Sicario" during the week. Very, very good. Benicio Del Toro is spectacular in it.

I thought it was quite poor but i do agree Benicio Del Toro was good in it.

I would advise any of you that have not watched The Shield to give it a go.

In my opinion its the Daddy of them all. Some of the others in the list above are excellent as well but the Shield is class.

agreed, Vic Mackie is class, also how it all pulls together is top drawer, really surprised it doesn't get more recognition

Can't understand that either. It is head and shoulders above other shows like the Wire but hardly anyone has seen it.

Derry are serial underperformers. Is this likely to change?
In terms of winning things probably not. Promotion out of Div 2 and an Ulster final appearance would probably be seen as a job well done in Barton's 2 years. We simply don't have the players that the likes of Dublin and Kerry have.
His biggest problem will be getting the players to play with each other. There is huge club rivalry in our county and arguments seem to seep into the county team.

To me that's just a lazy easy excuse. I don't think there is a bigger club rivalry in Derry than the majority of other counties. Look at Tyrone club football I don't think there is any love lost between the clubs, Carrickmore,Errigal, Clonoe, Coalisland, Dromore,Omagh, Ardboe but they seem to be able to pull together alright.

I think the big problem is that an awful lot of players in Derry have no real desire to play for the county team and even some of the lads who do could take it or leave it.
