What level would New York have to reach before they stop giving them byes?

Tyrone will find it hard V New York. They have Glynn and Maher inside who'll be hard to work with. They re strong favourites and are a CR team in waiting. Not fair they're parachuted in every year. It ruined Cavan last year and they haven't recovered since I think.

Tyrone have Munroe and Aidy Kelly is still their key man. He's been some servant. They've had a real good year, pushed on but will find this tough. Each county must see progress every year and Tyrone have progressed. They can't really worry about the rights and wrongs of NW being in the final. Actually I think Mayo have a bigger arguementbut that debate is for another day.

Derry back in CR Final again. Should have beat London last year but didn't. That was a great opportunity. Referee decisions didn't help but Derry weren't good enough on the day unfortunately. That's the tough bit from a Derry point of view.

Cormac O'Doherty has been a great servant to Derry and he's still the man who makes them tick in that 'pocket'. With Shea Cassidy in fine form, he'll be looking to raise a green flag. Derry will need green flags. Young Collins is a fantastic hurler. Brings an energy to the game. Derry hopefully bring their A game.

Kerry are favourites and weren't worried about the last result V Derry as it was really a dead rubber for them. They'll be ready for this game. I'd say they were disappointed to drop down and they probably feel they're mid table Joe Mc D but they need to earn that. Today, is ther opinion, is their day for redemption.

They have Brick, Boyle and Slattery in the forwards and they'll need, from Derry's point of view, to be curtailed well. It surprised me that Kerry have about 12 clubs represented. I thought Kerry hurling was just a pocket in north Kerry but Kilgarvan, Tralee and Dr. Crokes are represented. I would love to see Kerry in the Munster Championship but I suppose they need to earn it but by broading the base of the triangle of clubs, it's a step forward.

I think Longford will have too much for Leitrim. Basing that off recent history. I think it's hard for teams to beat a team twice at this level. These two teams have lads from other counties playing i.e. work, grand parent rule of relationships. It'd be good to do a survey in the lower hurling county tiers teams to see how many 'outside' players are playing in each county. Be interesting to find out.  A KK man manages Leitrim.

Looking forward to a good week-end of hurling. Weather has changed a bit, with a bit of rain but still warm enough. Again, no excuses for anyone as CP will be excellent. A great chance for these lads to grace Croke Park. Hope they all embrace and enjoy it.

Here's a couple of good articles re: the 3 Finals. Interesting reading.

These lads deserve their big day out. I'm of the opinion that it's a pity that these lads are having their final inter-county run out for the year and we're still in May. But I've no idea of how you sort the fixtures. You'd want these lads to get as much hurling as possible. Especially with small club bases.

A silly system whereby Tyrone won all Nickey Rackard Cup group games and don't gain promotion because of today's defeat to New York.

Is there any way of watching the Derry Kerry game online in N Ireland? Everything I have tried is geoblocked.

Bad result for Kerry, I would've thought? They were competing at the top end of McDonagh not that long ago. Would that Derry team be backboned by Slaughneil lads?

Not as many as you would think, defintly a string presence with Sé Cassidy, Conor Coyle and of course Cormac O'Doherty being sleacht Neil men who stood up brilliantly yesterday

Yeah, Kerry would have been strong favourites. Dominated the league stage and lost to Derry, when they had nothing to play for. Credit to Derry who battled back V Meath and got the draw. But played unreal yesterday from the get go. Really aggresive and hard work. Played for each other. But Kerry needed to turn up and they didn't so they'll be gutted. Sport is really about being good on the day. Nothing else counts.

Mixture of clubs on the panel. A good few from the successful U20 B winning teams I think, plus a solid spine of long soldiering servants like O'Doherty, Mc Grath and Foley etc. SN have a core group on team and most start. Kelly is a really solid keeper. That experience defintely helps. Manager cute to develop a lot of his own club players also. Probably a third of panel from there.

I think Derry hurlers deserved that Christy Ring. And not just because of that performance yesterday. They've knocked on the CR door this while and were up against better teams - apart from London last year. So glad for them players to get over the line.

But management can only work with what's available. It'll be interesting to see who's 'available' next season. Could be a few boys back which will be tough on some of the lads currently there.

With Antrim and Down in Mc Donagh next season, it'll have an Ulster feel to it. Less travel also, so the northern counties will be happy about that. Unreal to have 3 Ulster teams in the Joe Mc D. Should create a good buzz.

Good win for Longford. Turned it on in the second half.
