Makes for fantastic viewing.

Still mulling over who to back for it. Always like Big Phil but to do back-to-back is an almighty ask.
Im convinced Tiger will get back to near top form, but dont know if it will be in this one, at that price can certainly be backed each way.

Fowler wont lack confidence and is an interesting punt.
The same can apply to McIlroy but when it goes worng it really goes wrong for him. Could lead after day oe and blow up on day two so that consistency is not there yet in my opinion to win a major, but he will some day.

So............Woods each way, kaymer & Fowler for me  8)

Denman is set to race on following his magnificent performance in defeat in the totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup.

The Paul Nicholls-trained 11-year-old finished a gallant second to young star Long Run, beaten seven lengths.

That achievement was all the more laudable as the ground at Cheltenham was quicker than ideal for the Paul Barber-owned chestnut, who won the Gold Cup in 2008.

Yet despite his advancing years, connections will keep Denman in training for at least another season.

Barber said: "It was wonderful to be part of it, and an honour to see Denman run so well.

"I went down to see him at 6am this morning to give him his Polo mints.

"I couldn't see him on Friday night as I'm afraid we had celebrated a little too much.

"The race was over nine seconds faster than standard so it tells you how quick the ground was, and also how well Denman did.

"He's looking very well, but I'm not going to think about plans for at least a few days.

"The one thing I can say is that he won't be retired.

"All being well, we'll keep him going for another year."

Kauto Decision
Plans are less concrete, however, for two-time Gold Cup winner Kauto Star. The 11-year-old gelding, also trained by Nicholls, atoned for last year's fall in the race when finishing an honourable third under Ruby Walsh.

"It was a fantastic performance and I'm a very proud man," said owner Clive Smith.

"I thought he might even get there coming into the straight, but we came across a very talented horse with younger legs and it was probably too much for him.

"Long Run was the Kauto Star of four years ago, I believe, so very well done to him and his team.

"Paul has texted me to say everything is fine with the horse, so we'll now have to see where we go with him now.

"We said at the Festival we wouldn't make any hasty decisions, so we must sit down and have a discussion as to what we do next."

Hats off to Donnelly's Hollow!  ;D
Hope everyone faired out rightly over the week. Great festival and finished rightly.

6/1 quote for long run in the aftermath of yesterday's victory for the 2012 renewal could be snapped up. Especially if some of the big hitters bow out by then like Kauto and Denman. Two absolute superstar's, may bow out at the top and owe no one anything.

what was everyone's favourite winner of the week?
Personally i loved the class that oozed out of hurricane fly and quevega.

Solwhit ruled out of the festival.

Going by today's Irish News, the main one they cant get away from at the sean graham preview night in monday was Big Bucks. (not very original i know) but they all seemed to agree on it and thought 5/4 is a good price.

The Murphy camp seem very bullish about Big Zeb, especially on good ground.

whats the thoughts on cue card? will it flop like dunguib?

nap selections for cheltenham gents?
and good each ways?

I strongly fancy Quevega in the david nicholson mares race and time for rupert.
Think could be one last kick in kauto and def each way material.

A very corageous and well composed piece of writing from Mickey.
How would one even start to try and put pen to paper is beyond me but thats a measure of the man.

With the brother passing, it has been a terrible time for their family but with their great faith they will rally and pull through with great dignity as always.
