Master's Thesis on cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation within GAA

Hi everyone,

I know this has already been posted before and so thank you to everyone who has taken the time to complete my survey on the above issue. However, I still need as many more willing participants to fill it in as possible and it is due to come down very soon. So if you can spare 15-20 minutes it would be very much appreciated.

Your participation would be truly very valuable in contributing to a better understanding of how the performance of CPR and the use of defibrillators can be improved and may also help to raise further awareness of sudden cardiac arrest within the sporting field.

Anyone aged 18 or over and who is actively involved in the GAA in Ireland be it as a coach, referee, player, spectator etc can take part.

I've just recently completed my initial Advanced Life Resuscitation course here in Australia, focussing on the use of CPR, a defibrillator and OxyViva equipment.

I cannot recommend such skills highly enough. The course was a day long as all those of us attending had several CPR requalifications under our belts. Normally, I believe, it is a two-day course.

Just did the Survey. Will your research be published online when completed, if it is make sure and come back and post a link.

A small suggestion: at the end of the survey there is useful links but they seem to be geared towrds NI so some links for all of Ireland would be nice.

This user has just set a no. of user accounts on various gaa sites in order to post her survey link and then just disappears, failing to answer any follow up questions. I think it's only good manners to occasionally check for any questions when you're asking people to do you such a favour.

I apologise if it seems this way - as you can appreciate this is an ongoing project and therefore I have been preoccupied for a few days with my literature review. However, I had always intended to answer any follow up questions and so if you have any I will do my best to answer them. Thank you.

Congratulations on completing the course. Yes you are right - invaluable skills to possess, especially as time is so critical in instances of for example cardiac arrest.

Thank you for taking the time to fill it in. Yes I will make sure to post a link to my results on this and other GAA forums. Apologies for the lack of websites also but thanks for your suggestion.
