General discussion / Re: Ireland of the welcomes
March 18, 2007, 04:05:54 PM
The people in this video are the scum of ireland and the earth. They are in every town and city in ireland. They are dragging this country down with their brainless thuggery, bullying and racism. Why dont these people do the rest of us a favour and jump into the atlantic with some heavy weights on their ankles.

I remember a friend of mine starting getting racist after a night out and starting shouting racist comments out the window of the car we were driving in. I havent spoken to him since, that was about 4 years ago. i dont associate with racists

Wish I was home to watch the club finals, i love going to them, Pity TG4 arent showing them online, dont know why they show everything but the games online. One of the biggest draws for TG4 is their GAA coverage.

Ta me ar buile >:(

GAA Discussion / Re: Seating on Hill 16

I think the hill should be kept as terrace, way better athmosphere at the games with the hill there. And lay off the Dubs, i really cant believe some peoples attitude towards them sometimes.

GAA Discussion / GAA Supporters Clubs
March 15, 2007, 09:55:25 AM
Does anyone else think their supporters club is quite limited. I am looking to join the Meath supporters club and i just found the whole thing very poor. I just think the supporters clubs coulb do more than sending you a car sticker and raffle tickets. One lad mentioned that if the supporters club arranged transport for members to away league matches, it would be great. Think about it. if for instance this year Meath had a game in Sligo, Antrim, if there was a bus going to and from those games from Navan, im sure there would be a load more going to those games.

Well with the right PR the GAA filled Croke park with 82,500 people for a league opener!!!!  So maybe if they got their finger out and put some promotion behind the league final people would go to it. the GAA seem very reluctant to promote the league for some reason. The lack of promo for the hurling league is very bad too. Why dont they play the Div2 finals of Football and hurling in a smaller venue and the Div 1 finals of Football and hurling in Croker as a double bill, now that would sell out!!

I think it might give Meath hurling the kick up the Arse it needs. While it would be better that the improvements came from within the county, Eoins involvment will possibly speed up the process for us.

GAA Discussion / Re: TELEVISING GAELIC GAMES..

Hold your horses, Why is everyone so quick to jump down each others throats.  ???

I agree to an extent ehat lawnseed said. Presentation is one of the most important parts of any product. The GAA has pretty poor presentation, for example, look at Official County websites, they are all prehistoric in terms of design and appearence (except for Tyrone, theirs is very good). On TV and internet so much can be done to improve the appearence of our games.

I would like to see more in depth analysis of games, by people who know something about it. It just seems like Spillane and the rest dont analyse they talk in an almost esoteric form of Rural speak, that could apply to anything. i think some more clear facts, numerical breakdown and in depth analysis of such would be more appropriate. I dont mind if it comes from SKY, TV3, RTE, TG4, BBC, SETANTA.

If people want the best example of how a sport should be presented go to NFL.com and see how American Football is done. Its the best form of presentation and offers so much to the viewer. the NFL even have their own TV network and own all the rights to their games. Thats how it should be done by the GAA.

He was going so well till he said replace the hill!  ;D

Even I think the hill should stay. Its nothing to do with tradidtion or the name. the hill gives great athmosphere to Croker. I still remember when the Dubs finally managed to beat us after 7 years of trying ;D in 2002 the view of all the arms waving and hands clapping on the hill was spectacular.  By the Way when lansdownes built its bye bye rugby and soccer as far as im concerned. Thats whats in the deal that was struck.

I dont see what good it would be for either team if their managers retired. Besides when was the last time a manager resigned because of league form, i dont remember any.
