Great year underage for Galway- 3 out of 4 in the 2 codes
And the minor fuballers narrowly lost the AISF
Plus St. Ja's narrowly losing college's final. In Senior, the Bridge won AI club title.
When the rampant desire among Galway fans for success to follow at Senior level eventually trickles (or torrents) into players heads, maybe then will we finally make our mark at this grade.

3 u-21 football in 10 years is a great sign.

But only that. The only 'world class' player we've produced in that decade is Michael Meehan. It was wonderful to win an unexpected U-21 title this year but even among that current crop there doesn't seem to be a budding Joyce, Donnellan or Fallon - someone who will stir the blood. Galway Senior hurlers have been castigated rightly or wrongly for years of underachievement, but the footballers record since 2001 has been much worse. At least the hurlers can point to being at the mercy of an unfair and lop-sided system for much of that time, big ball lads have no such excuse. I still think Liam will come west again sooner than Sam.

No sign of Abbeyknockmoy producing another Michael Coleman . It was so easy 25 years ago to find the hurlers  :(.

That's the bittersweet thing about the GAA - only once in an era does a Coleman or Mannion come along. Trick is to put a right team around them when they do.

In the words of Sean Ban Breatneach circa 95/96 'il have whiskers down to my toes before any county in Connaught brings Sam home before Galway'

To be honest I think a Mayo all-Ireland would mean a lot more than Galway winning again.
Galway hurling is bewildered but Mayo have something different and if they could conquer the demons
it would be magic.
