Believe it or not the fire brigade is the biggest user of these chemicals and has only begun to try and move away from using them

I understand the issues with PFA's (Dupont in America etc etc)

But following the logic below (please correct me if I'm wrong) are you not overblowing this a little?


The 'biggest user of these chemicals' is the Fire Brigade

They use them to put out fires presumably? (relatively rare)

They make a concerted effort to catch effluent involved in firefighting - especially if it is a longer term effort

They only leach into Lough Neagh when the fire is in the catchment area of Lough Neagh (we exclude a fair proportion of fires)

They've now moved away from using them
