wi fi broadband

any suggestions lads on wi fi broadband in north west Dublin.

Have NTL - and it is good (though becomming increasingly liable to be off line which is a pain in the hole)
but need a wi fi based solution now so I am not confined to one or two places around the house to access the damned interweb.

Obv want to pay similar rate as I am paying now and dont want to change telephone provider.

Do I go for Irish Broadband and its €25 quid offering or Eircoms €25 solution.
OR are there others that are better for the same money.
Anyone have the above two options?
is speed Fast/slow,  comments etc?

you recommend the Eircom wireless router and any particular offering?
Is that what you have yourself - which solution offering - apologies for asking

To my immense surprise, the Eircom package is very good. We've had the modem for a while and my wife got a PCMCIA card for the laptop so she could use it in work. I was vaguely aware that the modem was advertised as being wireless but I wasn't paying too much heed to it because a) we didn't have the money to buy the wireless card for that length of time, and b) the grief I had seting up my in-laws' wireless connection with Blueyonder was unreal. Still, I decided to try it on the laptop at home - and it worked first time.

In short, if you want reliable wireless around the home and aren't concerned with only having a 10/20 GB download limit (should be fine if you aren't downloading films or playing Halo online), then I can recommend the Eircom deal.

I ordered a line from them over a month ago and they still have yet to tell me when the installation date is.

Try get a good idea of your expectant bandwidth usage lynchbhoy, because if you take a deal with too low of a bandwidth limit and then exceed it they will rape ya with extra fees, and vice versa there is no point paying for too much bandwidth when you're not using it.

However I believe that it's relatively easy to switch between plans with Eircom.

the price is the same, go look at their website, mine is part of an all in one deal, costs virtually nothing for the first 6 months, then ups to 20 per month, 2MB download or whatever.  Might even have gotten the router free too - but cannae mind.

i've smart telecom in my place in dublin hooked onto a wireless router, low contention ratio so the speed is up to 4Meg 24-7, its 39.99 per month with no download limit so i'm happy enough.  Got 3 yesterday, mobile broadband its 3.6Megs deadly, 19.99 per month just plug it into your laptop and your away...... After you download 10Gigs you get charged 5cent per Meg but most wont go over the limit, i need it for work and porn...
Have connectivity at the moment in athlone and yesterday in mayo so its the way to go if your a traveler, the knack's love it.....

I meant wifi . I have the netopia wireless router the firewall is shit on it so i just turned it off , The wireless works fine up  40/50 feet away .  I have eircom.
Buses are the 46's the 11's and the 7 , what part are you aiming for?
