I'd believe the money bit but not the setup.

If he had a bad knee he wouldn't have been trying that kamikaze kick to begin with. He'd have tried going toe to toe, protect knee as best he could and hope to get lucky with a good punch.

I'd say he was full of adrenaline, got over excited, misjudged and landed awkward. Coupled with the fact that he's not 26 anymore and the body lacking impact conditioning and joint lubrication probably about 75% whiskey.

See clips of him walking about before the start and didn't look right on that leg. Apparently he had 2 more fights on his UFC contract so would have wanted to get this one out of the way injured or not. Be safer fighting Jake Paul or someone at this point. (Paul would beat him)

Yeah Paul has a massive size advantage. Couldn't see McGregor hurting him. Clowns would lap it up though.
