If an amateur GAA player, who does it for free, stops bothering, he will lose his place on the panel.
If a professional soccer player, who is getting paid to do the job, stops bothering, he still gets paid.

Crazy.

Few follow ups:

Martinez - has never been short of effort and bravery playing for United. Has had terrible run of injuries over his time at United. A world cup winner and starter for Argentina - pretty sure a new contract will come for him that is fitting for him. He said what he said because he wants to win. I have no issue with people telling the truth. He also blamed himself and the players. It may not be the place in this capitalist world for an employee to question management unfortunately.

Rashford wasn't always toxic in fairness.

Bruno has only played in his preferred position all season except for Tuesday when he played off the right. He was played out of his position last season by Amorim and played reasonably well. He's just out of form or carrying an injury and if it is the latter he shouldn't be playing international games.

United is a shambolically run club.

I really don't know  who would want it. Most clubs have a  good core of players to start from , a  GK, a couple of centre backs , centre mf, a striker, so a new manager has something to work  with.  Who  is in that core at United? Fernandes, maybe. Mbeumo possibly. The rest  are poor to average.

I never thought Carrick was the answer but if he goes , the new man will have the same  problem .  4 or 5 managers  have came and  went now, and still you have the likes of Shaw, Maguire, Dalot, Rashford there stinking the  place out , and still no sign of  a core

Its simply a lot easier to change the manager and buy time for the powers that be, than it is to dislodge and replace a bunch of players with very high paying contracts.

The fact is that outside of Arteta (who was being seriously questioned by a lot of Arsenal fans not too long ago), Emery and Farke (who is only in the job three years and was close to the boot late last year before he found a new formation that worked), every other manager in the Premier League has been in the job only two years or less.

Its more pronounced because they're an elite club, but United are probably not that different from most with the turnover. It's simply the nature of the game, unless you get lucky and recruit a generational genius like Ferguson or Pep or Wenger or Klopp.
