Should have kept Rangnick at the time and gave him control. Can't see the owners going for someone like Conte as he'd take no shit from the board whereas Carrick is happy enough to keep his head down.

If I'm looking to build a team fit to win the PL, I don't think that Martinez at centre back would be on that team.

Careful what you wish for!

He's looking out in January if you ask me.

I like him but yeah should be a squad player at best at a serious club. Rashford coming back on mad money to sulk about and look disinterested is bound to be having a huge impact

I really don't know  who would want it. Most clubs have a  good core of players to start from , a  GK, a couple of centre backs , centre mf, a striker, so a new manager has something to work  with.  Who  is in that core at United? Fernandes, maybe. Mbeumo possibly. The rest  are poor to average.

I never thought Carrick was the answer but if he goes , the new man will have the same  problem .  4 or 5 managers  have came and  went now, and still you have the likes of Shaw, Maguire, Dalot, Rashford there stinking the  place out , and still no sign of  a core

Its like an episode of the Inbetweeners at this stage

A group of wildly overconfident inadequates stumbling from one public humiliation to the next still convinced they're going to score

Except of course the Inbetweeners occasionally did

Great comparison  ;D

I said it with Van Gaal, Ten Hag, Ole - sacking the manager is not going to fix this and just gives the sc**bag owners breathing space. Fair play to Martinez for what he said. I don't think any of the players or Carrick would disagree with him.

I thought last night Carrick made changes which worked. Heaven was outstanding at left back. Yoro excellent. Baleba a massive presence and looks like what United have been missing. I thought Santos did ok too. Tielemans was more effective. Team was better set up and were pretty unlucky. Deserved at least a point but no excuse for some of the finishing. A couple were easy enough chances that top attackers put away. I think Maroon Manc or someone made that point about clinical finishing in recent weeks. They were lucky that a bad finish ended up going in and the ridiculous red card then.

Now I think the changes were overdue and also didn't solve the big issue of Bruno's form. He was again pretty terrible. Rashford let the right back go a couple of times but obviously got a kick up the hole at half time because he chased well in the second half. His habit of pulling a defender who is under pressure is very annoying. Last night was first time since he has come back I've begun to get annoyed with him again. Cunha and amad added to things when they came on but the red card limited it.

Need and are capable of a win v Leeds. Hopefully can go solid at the back (Yoro - Maguire - Licha - Heaven) and have Mainoo - Baleba - Tielemans in the middle. Mbuemo is best available through the middle up from and I'd start Amad on the right and Cunha left. Fernandes could make an impact from the bench.

Utd did ok last night. Time will tell how good AM actually are but for me it looked like two decent teams going at it. Very unlucky with a few chances. On VAR, one went for them, one against. I didn't agree with VAR involvement in either but that's the way.

Martinez comments were a bit of an overaction. The performance was decent. Had he signed a new improved contract for himself during the summer I doubt he'd be saying too much. Sure there's problems at the club and lots of people not doing their jobs correctly, but if he could do his and actually cut out a cross, Carrick would be under a lot less pressure. Complete mé féiner.

Carrick has a tough assignment at weekend on top of this off field shite he could do without. A flat performance and loss and the boos will louden. He needs to get tough. And if not him, the next man. Despite all the shouts there's no major squad investment on the horizon. And there's none because there probably can't be any until they stabilise the books for a bit more.

Yeah would agree with most of that, were good in large parts yesterday but woeful in others. Brunos form merits dropping him but not sure Carrick has the balls. Rashford should have never been allowed back as he is and always will be a poison.

TBF to Bruno, he is being ask to play out of his usual position to accommodate others mainly Rashford.
As has been said some good things, but some stuff that is being repeated from the worst performances of the last few years. Hoping that Baleba starts to hit the ground running and they can discover some sort of form or confidence from somewhere or Carrick not be around for too much longer.

Good take of the situation by former Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy

Quote"Lisandro Martinez putting the pressure where it should ultimately be, on the ownership and hierarchy at Manchester United for their decision-making and the direction of the club"

He is correct in saying that the performances have been "a reflection" of the club itself and that accountability stretches well beyond who is in the dugout plus the players. There can be no argument that the squad is lacking depth, quality, balance and the right profiles.

He also nails it in terms of cycling through managers, but not having any question marks over what's happening upstairs.

United openly interviewed around Europe for Erik ten Hag's successor, only to keep him and arm him with new coaches and circa £200m in players before sacking him and his staff for £10.4m.

They hired Ruben Amorim despite knowing the squad - which they allowed ETH to shape - was so ill-suited to his approach. They were very aware Amorim was unwavering on his philosophy and promised to persevere with both him and it.Only to then try to dictate style, system and selections to him. They stuck with Michael Carrick only to sell him very short.

Let's not forget the big, long play to the tune of £3m to get Dan Ashworth, before paying £4.1m to axe him after five months. If the performances on the pitch are a mess, they speak to the state of play off the pitch
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Blackburn Rovers and Leeds Utd practical joker/journeyman, appointed academy coach at Man City academy coach and within 10 years is head of strategy for Man Utd, its so absurd you'd consider him a Saudi agent

Promoted so far beyond his incompetence its laughable

Utd are probably the worst run club in the league. Have been for a long time. New crowd trying to change that but it will take time to turn around if they can actually manage it.

But player power, self-entitlement and underperformance has been a huge issue for them. And Martinez is in no position to be throwing stones. He's just throwing his toys out because he wants a new contract. Club are under no obligation to give him one. He is over paid, injury prone and error ridden. Fit him better sort his game out and lead by example. That's his job. It's not his job to undermine manager and act the big lad in interviews.

Numbers don't lie. Utd are the top 1 or 2 payers in league last 10 years. INEOS have had to cut back but they are still top 4 in doling out wages. You wouldn't f*****g think it looking at the table or performances. So players need to walk the walk or FO. They are still stealing a living. That's not an absolution for INEOS or Carrick but they don't kick the balls. Theirs is a different job but last thing they need to be doing is throwing out money on the whims of players. Because everyone knows that story.
