Utd are believed to be interested in Gundagon as well. Has featured very little this season.

Barca have apparently lined him up as Xavi's replacement.

Question is can Moyes set up a team to get the best out of these creative players.

As good as Sundays performance was it wont cut the mustard in Europe.

Carrick is will be out for a good few weeks, achilles injury that he has been playing with....going to hurt United badly, vital player.

He has been brilliant the last 2 or 3 seasons. Very under rated by some. I seen a Moyes interview yesterday where he states that whilst things are going in the right direction he still sees massive improvements coming in the next weeks/months. Rooney is targeting the top of the table by the turn of the year. Looking at the fixtures the is not out of the question. The January window will be interesting but is there ever any quality available in January? Utd will be keen to put the summer's disaster of a transfer window behind them.

Carrick gone for about 6 weeks - probably not back until after Christmas

2 points dropped when you consider Utd were a goal up with 5 or 6 minutes to go but Rooney should not have been on the pitch when he scored the first and assisted the second so fair enough. Side show bob still fails to impress. Still the in form team in the league and now 10 or 11 games undefeated so not so bad.

fearbrags

What of Rooney miss ? Right man right place clean through on goal , he fluffs it ! How can a great player like Rooney miss this?

under the bar

Poor way to drop 2 points, although on current state of play none of the pretenders seem capable of  taking advantage of Uniteds state of flux!  On a decent run of form we could still win the league by a mile, but looking more likely to lose it by a few points to whoever ends up the poorest champions in PL history!

Milltown Row2

Was the worst decision by Rooney to pass the ball at that point.

Can't understand it as a simple side step had him past the keeper. Frustrating but would of been a steal.

Didnt deserve anything more than a point from the game but still frustrating to let it slip so late. Cleverly as an International is unreal, cant keep the ball cant pass it, along with Fellaini was one of united's worst midfield performances in a while. Brought Giggs on too late then he was poor barring one great pass to Wellbeck who should have finished regardless.

The Worker

Over the course of the 90mins Cardiff played the better football, and were good value for the draw. Once again, utd show they are average at best without Rvp.

Cleverly/fellani don't seem up to the required standard, will Moyes be big enough to make the call to ship them on?

The loss of RVP was a minor loss in comparison to Carricks omission.  If MC is out Utd have no ball playing central midfielder to control a game.  If you base your game on possession then you need two midfielders who can receive the ball in tight areas and string together a few passes.  Felaini and Cleverly are not these players.  Michael Carrick consistently touches / passes the ball more often than any other Utd player and often more than any other player on the pitch.  The vast majority of these passes are forwards as well. He is pivotal to all Utd do.

I seen someone mention this on Twitter yesterday, if Utd had to play a champions league final tomorrow its a sad state of affairs that the pecking order for CM would be:

1. Carrick
2. Jones (a centreback)
3. Giggs (pension due shortly)
4. Felaini
5. Cleverly

Investment badly needed in this area.  To be fair to Moyes he tried to sign the Spanish fella but the board let him down.

And United fans say other sides supporters are quick to hang players  ::).

Fellaini's barely got in the door yet he's not good enough?Give the man a full season at least before hanging him, anyone remember what was said about Carrick for his 1st 2 seasons?

Only the Untied fans who couldnt understand the way the team play and played back then slated Carrick. Fellaini has got several problems to deal with, the price tag, the fact DM brought him with him and the fact that he isnt sure where to play him to be most effective. I personally dont think he is up the job but United have struggled for a dominant central mid fielder since Keane left so there has been no surprise that as this hasnt been addressed means the team is still weak in this area.

If he is played alongside Carrick they are too close together and this then slows down the movement of the ball out of that zone, so I think tactically it is difficult to see how best to use him.
