United are a bit hamstrung with FFP at the moment due to a 100m loss they made in year ended June 2022. But FFP covers 3 years, so that loss counts for FY22, 23, 24. Therefore, from 1 July 2024 that loss will no longer count, so I think a big summer transfer window is on the cards.

Realistically there is some serious culling to be done with the squad before you could even look to recruit.

Cunny Funt

Apart from poor finishing especially 1st half it was a routine and comfortable win in what was potentially a banana skin cup tie away against Wigan tonight.

Remember Wigan are 18th in the 3rd tier. This should never be a banana skin. The commentators said there was more Man Utd fans in the ground.

A goalscorer badly needed. Wieghorst would've score the 2 sitters hojlund missed.

f**k me. Stockholm syndrome.

Jeepers Creepers

Is there no strikers in the u-21's? Seem to be wheeling out young lads all over the pitch bar up front.

Cunny has to blow up every game Man United win to be some sort of epic giant killing underdog win for them.

It's United. No such thing as a dead cert these days.

Not rocket science when you get a winger playing on his strong side able to get to the by line and make proper crosses which create chances.

Contrast that with Rashford on other side who seemed that last night was the first time ever he had been introduced to a football. Shocking how far his performance levels have dropped from last season.

None of the top teams in the league play with out and out wingers, your traditional wide player that plays on his "normal side" ie right footer or right wing  and left footer on left wing is pretty redundant among any top side and they play in the main with wide forwards who cut inside or their favoured foot.

This narrative United supporters have that Hojlund doesn't get chances as United don't play with out and out wingers is a myth, they have had average 14 shots per game in the league this season and City have had 16.  Hojlund looks out of his depth and spending 72 million on a lad with 9 goals in Serie A looks to be another blunder from ETH in the transfer market.

It's not about traditional wingers or harking back to days gone by, it's a simple attacking principle if Garnacho can actually go down the line and either make a cross or a pass quite quickly is a bonus. He is however competent or confident enough to also come inside and get a shot off on his left foot as he demonstrated last night. This means he has the quality to do both and makes him harder to defend against.

Contrast this with the other side when Rashford can 'only' come inside on his favoured foot as he has zero impact or ability to go on his left, making the team and attack more predictable.

It is about having a variety in attack, being able to play through balls for Hojlund to run on too, being able to play down the wings attacking from both sides and being able to pick passes around the box etc.

ETH has made 16 signings so far.. Have any of them worked????

  • Martínez + Casemiro always croked @ £107m total

  • 4 keepers, and all dung so far, esp Onana.

  • Tyrell Malacia, £15.7m

ETH has definitely  signed his fair share  of stinkers, but you could also  say  the only signing  that proved a success since Fergie retired, was Zlatan

As for Hojlund,  as much as I want him to  succeed , it was mad spending  70+ million when another few quid  would have got you Kane , a proven goal scorer
