Depsite being 2nd best for a lot of the game we could've and should've grabbed a point. 2 decent performances in a week though so signs of improvement.

The Jon Jo Shelvey lookalike LL better get all of his hilarious quips in soon as I would place any amount of money that he chooses that we'll finish above them this season .

City could and should have had a couple of penalties.  But yeah, credit to United for not giving up late on.

Lowest points total after 10 games for 28 years, not sure what positives you can take from that

Apparently Van Gaal's a genius and he's got the team playing well but it will take time to implement  his "philosophy" totally.  What this philospohy is i don't know because all i can see is a defence that looks totally disjointed,a midfield that passes over and back and then just hopes Di Maria does something magic or else somebody boots the ball up the field.

Van Gaal is lucky that he had a reputation before he came to Man Utd because if this was any other manager he would be getting slaughtered for such a poor start to the season after spending £150million. Moyes got far more abuse and he had relatively little money to spend in comparision, yet got similar results. Take away the new big shiny signings to give the fans some hope and the big name manager, and Man Utd have been very disappointing this season. There is a perfect opportunity to make the top 4 this season given the mediocrity outside of Chelsea and City and yet it seems that Utd without the distraction of European football are doing their best not to finish in the top 4.

Rogers has spent 215 mil since 2012, and they are doing their best to stick with Utd

They aren't far behind although they were coming from a much lower base than Man Utd. Man Utd have spent similar money to a team that were League champions whilst Liverpool were 6th or 7th. Man Utd have better players than Liverpool but are around the same position in the table and that is a poor reflection on the manager. The big glamour signings have worked in terms of appeaesing the fans but the results have not improved.

Moyes rightly got stick, he inherited the champions and turned them into the worst team we've had in over 25 years. LVG has completely changed personnel and the way we play. There are plenty of signs of improvement, a good performance last week and a strong finish with 10 men against City today. This time last year we were getting hammered by City, Liverpool & Chelsea.

Results & performances have improved against the better sides have improved. That is obvious.

What about the results and performances against the weaker sides??

Jesus wept! City were comfortable and only for the ref would have been out of sight. Chelsea again were comfortable last week only for a last ditch set piece. If Moyes were in charge of this he'd be gone without waiting until the end of the season!!

Looking forward to the LVG must go banners after Christmas. Your defence is terrible and now with Smalling and Rojo out for the foreseeable it's only getting worse. . . Arsenal look like a banker at this stage!

BennyCake

I'd fine that bollix Smalling a months wages for that first yellow card. Stupid fcuker!

City weren't comfortable, they had one nailed on pen when the game was 0-0. They were nervous for the last 15 minutes against 10 men, they took off their best player and replaced him with a central midfielder, they were worried, nothing comfortable about that.

Every red I know understands the size of the job, he's got another 2 transfer windows probably to get the squad he really wants and then I'll be confident we'll challenge for the title. Performances have improved in the last 3 games although the points total is disappointing, we've finished the stronger team in all 3 games. LVG knows what he's doing and has the money to buy the players to implement it, Moyes was a clown who was way out of his depth.

From the Bunker

Surprisingly despite both Liverpool and United for being way below average are 3 to 4 points away from Champions league football. Lets face it both are muck. Liverpool a bit more (muck). The thing is a lot of the teams above both teams challenging for a CL places have small squads. Come March a big squad is what counts. Utd's lack of CL and League Cup football will be a help to them. Liverpool more than likely will be in the Europa and the League Cup and this will mean their smaller squad will be stretched. Utd to edge 4th - Just!

rodney trotter

Look at Koeman and the job he is doing at Southampton, he has had to rebuild and is not making any excuses.

United are playing some decent enough football, but what good is that when they have only 13pts from the first 10 games. No excuses either  with no Carling or European distractions..

He also doesn't have the luxury of choosing from 4 players who earn in excess of £1million a week in wages combined. Most Man Utd fans seem happy with Van Gaal to date purely because he has splashed big but he hasn't got the results to back it up. Talk of him now needing another 2 transfer windows to put it right, it's a total change of philosophy from the Ferguson era and more akin to a club like Real Madrid.
