What competition?

Is the Cathair Dhoire MacRory team not still in business? Or has that amalgamation fell by the by wayside?

That experiment was kicked to touch by the traditional grammar schools in the Ulster Colleges council. Everything was ok until on of the amalgamations had the temerity to actually reach a final and nearly win the thing...what a joke.

Ok. Didn't know that. I thought it was an annual GAA support plan for the city?

When did they reach the MacRory Final?

St pat's beat a South Donegal amalgamation 2 years ago in the final in Celtic Park.
It was Abbey Vocational School that St Pats beat 2 years ago ( from memory there was 12/13 from Four Masters on  that team )  The  Donegal Amalgamation team got beat in the semi final that year

Just a thought, if an amalgamation has 12/13 players on the team from one club, surely it fair to question the integrity of that amalgamation, it was not in the spirit of what it designed to achieve?

Apologies, I thought you were on about a Cathair Dhoire team reaching the MacRory Cup Final.

I proposed a while back for the re introduction of a U20 or u21 competition that would be allowed to include amalgamated clubs. If you have enough for a team enter one if not amalgamation option could be North/South/East/ West Derry. All players should be over 18.

This competition used to be ran at this time of the year under lights. It should be aimed to start when championship gets to Quarter final stage and ran mid week. Far too many lads who's clubs are out of the championship at an early enough stage getting absolutely nothing at this time of the year.

Currently an u13 competition being ran which is brilliant (do not understand why its not u12 as we have u14 already) but can't rock the boat incase we lose it. With junior whistlers refereeing too might I add.

Think that u13 competition is so they can get a better idea for seeding u14 leagues next year as there was a lot of chopping and changing this year.

U21/20/19 badly missed would be relatively easy to fit in with most teams wrapped up for the year

There was an u12.5 competition at the start of the year and now the u13 at the end.

Aimed ay bridging the gap between u11.5 Go Games and u14 on a full pitch.

Abbey Vocational School (loaded with Four Masters players) is a stand alone school.

SW Donegal was the amalgamation side - schools were as far apart as Killybegs to Gweedore.

Some amount of football for that group of lads (current Y9s) which I think has been deadly.  U12.5 to start the year, u14 throughout the year (Screen had 3 teams so those lads were all virtually guaranteed loads of game time) and now an u13 tournament to finish the year... brilliant to bridge the gap from u11.5 to u14.

However, I believe it's all changing next year with go-games switching to even numbers - u6.5, u8.5, u10.5 & u12.5; though i've no idea what the format is for u12.5 - surely it couldn't be go games??  Maybe the same as the u12.5 at the start of this year?

That leaves u14 as a 1.5 year group rather than 2 years which could have an impact on teams fielding a B team (9 clubs had a B team this year, and 2 clubs had a C team).
