Brigids 0-07 Tubber 2-04 HT.

Goal chances galore, Tubber have taken their chances being the difference. Very greasy conditions, lots of dispossessing and spilling. Brigid's need to step it up in the middle to get back into this one but it's far from over yet.

Congrats to Tubber, better team won. Hopefully they can win the final but it will be an all-mighty battle.

For Brigids it's hardly the end of the line - no one in Roscommon is near them - but Cake may finally hang up his boots and while Frankie can still go as well as ever he has nothing left to prove to anyone.

It was great to see the all Ireland champions posters around the Ros side of Athlone last year.
I'm sure Brigids will be back.

Don't know about that Seafóidín.
If/when Cake, Mango and Frankie pack it in they'll be a poorer outfit.
Would be nice to think they'll be ousted in Ros next year.

Fanciful thoughts.

No one looked at all ready to challenge this year.

Really looking forward to the Brigids-Tubber game. One of first really big inter-county club games of the season. Both will have designs on the All-Ireland, nevermind the Connacht title. Brigids and Tubber's county form has been stellar this year. Paddy Mulvihill has added an extra dimension to an already very good Brigids attack, he can play anywhere from midfield up and tracks back and wins a lot of dirty ball from his default position of FF.

COC is probably the best player in the country at winning soft frees (that's said both ruefully and admiringly) and he's automatic on them when he gets them. Discipline will be key for both sides, though, as Senan and Frankie are quality free-takers themselves.

Hopefully Brigids' wealth of experience at this level will tell when this game comes down to the final ten or fifteen minutes.

COC didn't get a handy free all day and I don't know where that quip about being the best in the country at winning them came from.
There were several soft frees given yesterday, and they went in favour of Brigids.
A great win for Ballintubber, goals at crucial times, and responded brilliantly whenever Brigids came at them. Have now beaten the 2013 AI Finalists, 2012 AI Champions, and Corofin up next!

The ref was wise to COC yesterday but the lad is very like Gooch in how he wins frees, grabs an arm, lets a shout out of him like a bull in the process of being castrated and falls down in a heap. Lots of forwards try it but few are as effective at it as COC. It's a talent of sorts but one that infuriates the opposition, you can trust me on that one..

On a different note I loved the respect COC showed to Cake after the match, and vice versa. It's what the GAA is all about. No handbags, just brothers in different jerseys.

Congrats, Tubberman.
