Armagh - OUT
Derry - OUT
Fermanagh - OUT
Cavan - Only in it cos they bate another Ulster county
Antrim - Only in it cos they bate London
Donegal, Down, Tyrone and Monaghan - Still there because they haven't played a qualifier yet.

Where did it all go wrong? What did the Queen do to us?

I blame Down for going to Croke Park to meet her when the rest of us like SF boycotted the occasion. At least SF have admitted now they were wrong.

Sure we'll go and see her when she's presenting the trophy at next years final and hopefully it'll be us that is receiving it.

snoopdog

we in Down dont get many oppurtunities to go to Croke Park and we thank Lizzie for inviting us, after all she is a Down woman with a big house in Hillsborough. No wonder she and Mary McAleese got on so well.

Why does anyone expect anything other than mediocrity. The three Ulster sides no longer involved in the C'ship in July have less All-Ireland senior titles put together than Louth. There is a massively over inflated expectation placed on some teams.

Other counites play gaelic football, Ulster is currently trying to bring in rubgy leagues defensive lines and breaks as their style of gaelic football, so not only cant we play it, the games are terrible and none are value for money, hell am just gona blame Jim

At least Armagh got to stay in the championship until July; we went out in June!

Ulster football has been on the slide for a while,Armagh since 2006 and Tyrone since they squeezed an AI out of 2008.

These things go through cycles, Ulster had a good spell from 1991 to 1995 and will have another one again.

cadence

dear mikey,

would kerry being in the qualifiers this year have anything to do with hubris? i'm confused if it is. surely you couldn't be accusing others of something you're guilty of yourselves?

a fan.

Armagh - Today's game should be a reality check. Capable of putting in a decent performance but rely far too much on Jamie Clarke to look for scores. Unlike a decade ago bridging the success of Crossmaglen into the county squad is not happening.

Antrim - May have only beat London, but then again it took Mayo extra time last year to beat the same team and they ended up in an All-Ireland semi final. Not world beaters but too early to judge.

Cavan - Nothing of note since 97, remain mainly below the radar but recent U21 success may help in the future depending if they can transition it well. Some do, many don't. As for this year, reaching Qualifier Round 4 would be an excellent result.

L/Derry - Are now treading in the territory of weaker county status, roughly in the same position as Down were a decade ago after they too lost a qualifier to Longford. In Ulster, only Fermanagh and maybe Cavan stop them being bottom of the pile.

Donegal - Arguably the number 1 football team in Ulster right now. Enough said about them in plenty of places. Has a roving eye on Sam, anything less than reaching the All-Ireland semi finals or even the final this year will be a massive disappointment.

Down - Have decent form and showed great spirit in coming back to defeat Monaghan. Carefree attack but shoddy at the back, Ulster final against Donegal will prove intriguing. Hard to know how far they can go.

Fermanagh - Despite "God™" coming in to somewhat partly settle a broken squad with a good NFL4 run, are still lacking in plenty when it comes to the championship. News of Seamus Quigley leaving the panel not long ago suggests that some egos are still hard to settle. Currently propping up the rest of the province.

Monaghan - Reverse of Fermanagh, took poor NFL form on its head to be a little unlucky not to be in an Ulster final. I'm not sure they go from here this year though.

Tyrone - not the same team as say five years ago. Should be able to aim for a last eight place, a second or third round qualifier knockout will be hugely disappointing.

Pretty good analysis there in fairness.
Cant see an Ulster AI winner.

Christ, listen to what's talking!!!

Mike Sheehy

Of course it is better for the championship that these negative teams are out. I think we can all agree on that (and that NaomhBridAbu is silly t**t)

stew

Mike, you are the poster child for Kerry arrogance minus the brains, the aul hands used to wait til they got us in Croker, bate us by 7 points and then pat us on the back for a job half well done, not you, you dont have the wit to understand that a couple of Ulster teams will have a huge say on who wins the AI.

I pray to God it is not Kerry, with supporters like you I would nearlry rather the north would win the Euro championship, does yer mammy like ye Mick?????
Armagh, the one true love of a mans life.
