QuoteEarlier in the thread it was mentioned that it was illegal to use green or red diesel in the territory of the UK, but the diesel dippers only check for illegal usage of the red.
Is that so, that they don't check for green in the North?

They do. At one time green was not illegal but now it is.

So if somebody claimed on Jan 14 2012, that diesel dippers only checked for red (not green), that somebody would have been talking through their hole?

I'd say so.

rarely see dippers in greater south Belfast but a friend told me there was a fairly recent purge in the Malone and Stranmillis areas. "Chelsea tractors" were the dish of the day and the customs officers were heard to remark they had caught 80 in a morning.

What is the current fine? £1,000?

Ha I love these 'friends' wanting to know, or they know a guy who.....

If you are dodging tax on green diesel up north, what's illegal? Customs are pulling you for using red diesel as you aren't paying British tax on it. So if you have illegal fuel from another country, was that why you couldn't be done for it in the past?
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea

Listened to radio report other day regarding being caught on green in the south. Those caught faced court. Is this a new thing?

Apparently they said they can detect if your diesel is washed diesel. I wouldn't imagine that's a bookable offence?

Any word on the locations our fuel duty protectors of late?

You couldn't be done for the Green before about 2002, but that is a while ago now.

it seems with this new marker that some people are going back to honest smuggling, and none of this washing.
