Mayo have 3 home games and a trip down the road to Enniscrone to face Sligo. Not too bad :). There's one more cull to be done in the Mayo minor squad. Whether it was done this morning or not I don't know.

Leitrim hammered Sligo I believe. Not sure of other scores though. Sligo 1-10 Leitrim 2-15.

I was at the Sligo game. It was worse than the final scoreline suggests, Sligo were down 0-7 to 2-14 down and Leitrim then missed 3 one on ones with the keeper and then Sligo scored a few points with leitrim pulling up.

I'll be suprised if leitrim dont show well in the rest of there matches though. They have some very classy footballers especially in the half forward line, no11 destroyed us.

Only excuse for Sligo is St Attractas arent included and we have a few notable injuries but still it was awful shite today and I would say 10 at least are not near intercounty standard.

Mayo without the St. Geralds lads. They would make a considerable difference.

Ros also without some of their top minors from last year including Daniel Qualter and Jack Carty, who were on the 2008 Ted Webb winning team. That said they are both part of the Ireland U18 rugby team and Connacht youths so may not even be available.

Qualter is still underage?! Christ he looked 25 last year! That said Kirby is going to be some player at minor level next year and O'Connor is the real deal so could be a good Connacht championship.
Mayo for Sam! Just don't ask me for a year

When did Qualter cross the Shannon?  Remember seeing him playing underage football for Athlone. He was a monster when he was 12.  Can't imagine how big he is now.

In the 1798 Republic, Longford was indeed part of the Irish Republic known as the Connacht Republic & Galway wasn't!

This is all I could find on the game and it doesn't even give the final score.

QuoteThe Galway Minor Football team had an easy victory over Longford in the first round of this years Connacht Minor League. The game was played in Duggan Park Ballinasloe on Saturday evening in ideal conditions for football.
Longford had the first score of the game but Galway completely dominated thereafter with the midfield duo of Fintan Ó Curraoin and Eanna Ó hEocha dominating in the middle of the park. Niall Quinn who had a great game throughout was the goal scorer.
