scum on both sides. don't kid yourselves into thinking "WE" are holier than "THEM"

When was the last time a nationalist mob used a Celtic win as an excuse to commit murder?
Regularly plenty of attempted murders I would have thought.  Old Firm wins / loses regularly have the effect of scumbags on both sides having a go at themmuns.  It is a terrible tragedy that this has now resulted in the death of man.

The statistics are frightening. After Celtic's 6-2 victory at Parkhead in August there were 60-odd arrests, 34 for serious assault, 13 stabbings, two attempted murders and one murder. After every Old Firm game there will be serious incidents so we think we're lucky now if there isn't a murder. That's a shocking state of affairs to think `oh, that went well, there were only a couple of attempted murders'."

i'm sure if you google you'll find a lot more

Trouble flares after Old Firm match
Feb 18 2009 by Gordon Robertson, Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser

MASSED brawls broke out in streets across Coatbridge following last Sunday's televised Old Firm clash.

Cops were called to disturbances outside a number of pubs as rivalry between Celtic and Rangers fans turned nasty.

A volatile mix of alcohol and football fuelled disgraceful scenes in the town and many pubs closed early to avoid trouble.

Police were called to Dundyvan Road near the Clock Bar at around 7pm where 25 people were reportedly involved in a street battle.

Bottles and other weapons were used as rival fans got steamed into each other.

Just over an hour later officers raced to The Corner Room in Wallace Street to attend a similar incident.

A source, who was in The Corner Room at the time, said: "They were getting torn into each other outside the pub and it was starting to get a wee bit tense inside as well.

"The pub shut a couple of hours early because of it."

At 9.10pm a "large group" was reported to be fighting outside The Fountain Bar in Sunnyside Street.

Cops made one arrest when they arrived on the scene.

Superintendent Henry Campbell said: "The last thing we want to see is any trouble caused through a football match.

"As well as a rise of on-street violence there is a rise of domestic abuse after an Old Firm game.

"We will take appropriate action against offenders as there is no excuse for this type of behaviour, which is totally unacceptable."

After every title decider for the last God knows how many years and more or less every OF game there has been sectarian attacks.  It comes from both sides and is a disgrace. If you want instances do what Milltown Row is suggesting. The amount of instances of this nature following eventful days in Scottish football is frightening. Unfortunately now this regular occurrence has led to the loss of a man's life.

QuoteHe said the police had been in the area at the time of the attack, and had been aware of disturbances after the football matches.

The police are looking at the possibility that tensions had risen in the area after Irish tricolours had been put up on lampposts.
