Degrassi Hi

Why did the county board not just run off a round of league fixtures on Saturday past at those times which would have allowed everyone be in front of a television screen for Donegal v Mayo on the Saturday evening at 6pm.  Then run the reserve Q/F this Friday night allowing people to make an All Ireland football Semi final weekend out of it in Dublin. By the time many away teams are back in their own parishes the Dublin/Mayo game will be done and dusted as that throw in is at 5pm.

Because this would have made sense.

I'd much prefer to be in Croke Park on Saturday evening to be honest watching it in real time. It's not Netflix ffs

We can't stop 1000 Club Players playing football because you want to go and watch Dublin/Mayo.

Because they had to account for the possibility that the Tyrone U20's could have been in the All-Ireland final on Saturday past. Once they lost their semi final it would have been very short notice to fix games for the following Saturday. We have now had a couple of week's notice that games were going to be fixed for the weekend of 10/11 August.

I agree, but springing these fixtures on AI Semi Final weekend seems like box ticking from the CB.

Well obviously but they do need to get some League rounds in before Championship and after 8 weeks of no games they probably have little choice.

A bit of foresight maybe to account for u20 involvement in a final or not a few weeks ago would have sorted that out easy.
One positive out of Tyrone being beaten yesterday is that clubs won't have to play the day after an all ireland semi final plus the county lads won't  be pressurised to play less than 24 hours after playing Mayo for their clubs.  Saturday past was the way to go end of story people.

Now there are only two outcomes to the county season could the county board not release a full set of fixtures for all competitions in the event of tyrone win/lose on sunday.

Would let club players and managers plan. For example When will reserve champo now be played I know alot of people probably don't care but it would be nice to know so lads could make sure they are available for it.

Also are they goin to play junior champo weekend after next????? If so would they not need to let clubs know so they could prepare.

They played the junior championship around this time last year but then there's a preliminary round to be played so that would have to be pretty soon. But yeah you're right in the event of Tyrone now reaching the semi final and potentially final it should be fairly straightforward to map out the next 3 months fixtures. It's the not knowing that frustrates teams.

Playing the fixtures on Saturday afternoon is a poor decision. Do the CCC not realise lads possibly work on Saturday afternoon. Why not play on Friday night at 6.45/8.15 - the reserve championship has been played this last few Friday nights so surely we could play reserve/senior fixtures this Friday night....strange choice to play them Saturday afternoon. I can understand why it is not Saturday evening due to the Dublin/Mayo game and supporters looking to go to Dublin on Saturday evening but surely Friday evening would be a better choice.

Then you'll have an equal number of people complaining - "The CCC forcing Players to play on Friday evening after a hard day's work".

How come the reserve championship has went ahead on Friday nights or even Thursday nights for last weeks without complaint

Without complaint? I've heard quite a few in my Club alone complaining about it.

Nobody cares about reserve football in Tyrone - That is, at fixture level.

Was chatting to my cousin there who plays club football in Monaghan. Is there any chance of their system of 5 point and 2 point games coming in to replace the starred system? It does have its downsides but there's always loads of club football during the summer.
