Refugees, probably being granted asylum as I'd say they can't return to wherever they were kidnapped from, but still free men.

I'm no lawyer but what basis would the state have for detaining them? Dubya asked us to?

While they are still in US custody they will be considered detainees. I'd imagine their status will change immediately on becoming the responsibility of the Irish state.

At a guess I'd expect they will be fast tracked for the granting of asylum in Ireland.

This was your position. You attacked the 'wee Libs back there' on the false assumption that Ireland would behave illegally just as the Bush administration had done. You then tried to use this as a stick to beat Obama.

Of course what you don't understand is that Obama is releasing these men to freedom. Imagine that, being released by the self proclaimed land of the free, to...eh...freedom.

No doubt the lunatics think that Obama releasing illegally detained men is somehow an attack on freedom.

Sorry, but I don't see any partisan angle here. If these guys need to be released and can't go home, how is he wrong to get Ireland to accept them? You assumed that the men would be 'detained' in Ireland.

I am going to assume you are listening to some spectacular shite over there which put that into your head but it is still funny reading the last page or two.
