Disappointing way to go out of the Champions League.

We are stale and this is no surprise.

We invested a lot in the earlier part of the season in order to assure ourselves the Premier League.

Full credit to athletico they Scored in the first 10 minutes of the 1st leg and defended for 170 minutes after that - some concentration!

Thought Liverpool were much better tonight than of late. It was a nightmare performance by Adrian that cost them, not staleness

Milltown Row2

That's some record Liverpool had with regards to the home record. AM will get caught out

Capt Pat

This game was lost by whoever was responsible for getting Adrian as the back up keeper. You don't need to spend 80 million to get a good keeper but it helps. Good keepers can be had for relatively little but Liverpool were trying to save money.

Ambrose

Nightmare for Adrian, he hasn't looked at all confident since he came back into the side.

We should have been out of sight in the 90 minutes, but you have to hand it to Aletico, they did what they set out to do.
You can't live off history and tradition forever

The staleness was in the first Leg and that did the most damage. True, Adrian gave Athletico gave a life line at an important juncture.

Captain Obvious

Complacency was a killer for Liverpool. 2-0 up on the night knowing it was their Champions league to lose and thought they had tonights game already won.

Marcos Llorente in fairness to him with two outstanding finishes and the Morata goal was the icing on the cake for Diego Simeones men who to the shock of many beat the defending champions home and away.

J70

There was only one team winning that until Adrian gifted them the goal.

I thought it was a good performance tonight.

That's hard to stomach
Adrian was a twelfth man for them
Can't see Madrid ever winning the CL, you can't ride your luck through the whole competition.

Easily could have been very different for Liverpool tonight but in the end AM deserved their win.

They deserved their bit of luck for hanging in there and they got it. Not sure they deserved to win!

Their goalie is the only player worth more CL football. Personally I thought they where s..t. Needed some great saves and a ropey Adrian to get through. Sometimes the best team loses

This.

These runs have to come to an end sometime, home wins, klopps over 2 legs etc etc.AM were a beaten team until Adrians fcuk up.

Bayerns or Man Citys now?

GiveItToTheShooters

Same old Liverpool. Couldn't finish their dinner and it came back to bite them on the hole. Didn't help with Adrian getting on like a half wit (again) to put it politely. We got what we deserved. Good job we've the league to lift within the next week or so or the last few week would have been viewed as disgraceful, and should be.

I agree with all that has been said about the PL but another reality is that it can be won in a matter of weeks. Should we get past Athletico in the second leg, which won't be easy, then the league can be wrapped up before the next round. Why not focus then on winning Big Ears again?

Forget blaming Adrian!
