Very interesting.

Is that a quote from a gaaboard member in the middle there? And he's been masquerading as an Arsenal fan all along!

Quote"It's not a young and old thing," says season-ticket holder Denis Breen.

He might not even last until the end of the season.

I should have started a "How long will Moyes be in charge at United" thread instead.

Although he can trace his coaching lineage to the great Jock Stein (via his boss at Celtic,Billy Mc Neill) Moyes will struggle, unless of course Ferguson intends to be a back seat driver.

I think he will struggle precisely because Fergie will try to be a back seat driver.

I should really not bother trying to justify my predictions.  ::)

Ferguson was smarter than I gave him credit for.

Or stupider? Moyes' failure with the current squad reflects well on SAF's legacy and his feat in 'inspiring' them to last year's league title; at the same time he practically chose his successor and has now been tarnished by Moyes' poor showing.

The second great dichotomy of SAF's MU career. The greatest and most successful of all managers at OT, yet his hubris over a racehorse was instrumental in saddling (pun intended) MU with the Glazers and monstrous debt and a presumable downward spiral for the next few seasons at least.

I think United will do well because (a) they have a very good squad as it is; (b) I am pretty sure United will spend a lot this summer to strengthen the squad, the club will be extremely anxious to show the transition is working; (c) after my initial negative reaction I'm beginning to think Moyes is actually the perfect replacement in these circumstances.

As regards to the "back seat driver" issue I cannot see Ferguson doing that. He is far too cute for that. He will help Moyes as and when Moyes wants - I'd be shocked if it hasn't been discussed and agreed.

The big challengers will be Chelsea and city of course (Arsenal will buy and improve but not enough to really challenge). Interesting that all 3 will have new bosses at the helm - who will settle in quickest. My hunch is United is the most stable environment so I'm boldly predicting that Moyes takes the title in year 1!

I know it has been quoted before but I think given the day that it is it is important to remember this prediction.

In fairness he got it wrong and admitted as much,no harm in that imo.
There are other posters on here who made fools of themselves right throughout the season with their 'predictions' and general bullshit and nonsense talk.
When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.

I look forward to the day you get somethnig wrong yourself BC1. Would I be right to repeatedly bring it up and ignore anything you got right? Pretty poor, I'd have expected better from you.
