What do you think the strategy was? To lose the game??

T Fearon

There was a distinct lack of urgency as I remember, just the same as there was against Cavan. You don't pass tests by doing well in the last couple of questions.

f**king joke,  no Cross men,  typical bias and you wonder why the county is where it is,  f**king joke.
I would agree that there should be Cross players there, but why are they missing?
Jamie Clarke - travelling
James Morgan - Injured
Aaron Kernan - retired from inter-county football
Stephen Kernan - no interest in Armagh
Johnny Hanratty - no interest in Armagh (in fact mocks when they lose)
Paul McKeown - no interest
Kyle Carragher - opted out of county football
David McKenna - no interest in Armagh
Oisin O'Neill - Called up to U21s
Auden Rushe - called up to U21s

That leaves Tony Kernan as the only panel member who is fit and made himself available for the county side. Does that answer your question?

Paul Hughes was also asked but declined.

McKeown, McKenna and particularly Hanratty have had their opportunities and come up short. That's no sleight on anyone - the leap between club and county football is a big one. That was well illustrated by TK's struggle to play at the pace and intensity needed against Cavan and Galway after six odd months of only being exposed to club football - and TK is well able for county football.

I wish people would stop putting Hanratty in this wish list. He has never been remotely near county football standard. A very good servant for his club where he knows his role and works hard in it within his limitations. There's no such thing as 'doing a job' at the top level - particularly if you are athletically challenged.

A variety of different reasons over the years in sure but I don't know,  some had issues with the way things were run in this and previous regimes. Some just are genuinely not bothered about county football and don't see it as the ultimate accolade the way players from other clubs do. The club is top, middle and bottom. It should be the case in every club but let's face it it's not. As a club we are different because of the success but the exact same as any other club in every other way. To my mind we actually look at the holistic idea of the game in a better way because we don't suffer the notion of county elitism the way other clubs do and we strive for internal elitism. I think that's why many people get angry at us because the county is not the ultimate goal for our players.
