That true about Ryan McLaughlin? A cracking prospect and really impressed anytime I've seen him. He had been called up by the north a few times to senior squads but was injured at the back end of last season. From twitter he did seem a keen enough follower of the North. But was also a big GAA and Antrim head, few pictures of him in a Antrim jersey.

He actually played for Liverpool today in the game V Newcastle.

Some boy from Belfast was in the news yesterday saying that he didn't want to be considered for NI soccer team, which caused a disagreement between me and a friend of mine.  He was saying that only 3 or 4 players born in the north have opted for the Republic, but I thought that the figure must be closer to 12 or 15.  Can any of ye soccer boys confirm this one way or the other?

Currently there wouldn't be many more than 3 or 4.  There is McClean, Gibson and Duffy from Derry along with Wilson from Armagh/Antrim.  Has Daniel Kearns been in the senior squad yet?

Kearns would be well off the Senior Squad unless there was lots of Injuries. Hasn't been called up yet.

At the minute Ryan McLaughlin has said he wont play for NI because he wants to concentrate on his club career. I suppose he is maybe close to a breakthrough to the Liverpool first team. Plenty of players dont play international football to prolong their career - unusual to hear someone do it to get it kicked off.

Of course, it could just be an excuse to keep Michael O'Neill off his back until ROI come calling, but who knows.

so our wee country got creamed by a even smaller wee country, time these clowns in the north got a reality check about soccer and merge the 2 teams, thought we couldnt scrape a decent team between the 2 of them at the minute

The lad will play for the republic, if he gets a chance, you can take that as fact!

Some craic over on the yahoo page with the match report after the 6 counties' loss to the Duchy.  There are some who won't support the national rugby, hockey or cricket teams but are happy to support the 6 counties soccer team AND...get this...the Ulster rugby team.  Clearly they don't understand the make up of rugby in the nation.
To find his equal an Irishman is forced to talk to God!

Looks like he has committed to the North.
