I still reckon my Solo from County A to County B for a championship match, finishing at the ground would be the right job. e.g. Solo relay from Mullingar to Longford if Longford were at home to Westmeath. Probably on a qualifer game on a Saturday evening.

Relay solo, with sponsorship cards and buckets on the route.

Person who raises the most money finishes the solo run.

See if we could get the lads in Pearse Park to allow us to finish the solo with the last lad scoring a goal on the pitch.

Session in Longford that night.

Our club organised a big one of these last year AZ. Relay went from our pitch in Tyrone down to Croke Park. Relay was 3/4 mile each and each runner had to raise so much. Plus we had buckets on route raising money for the Machaela Harte fund. Alot of organising took place and alot of effort, but raised a lot of money. PM me if you would like any info on it.

We did it about 20 years ago to raise money for our club in Ferbane. Soloed from Tullamore to Ferbane. Same as that, relays of about a mile or less each. Raised a lot of money through cards and the buckets.

It was great craic though, but it was a bitch going back to the start of your mile if you took more than 4 steps or hopped the ball twice :D

If I was to make a couple of suggestions, run it on one day only with 36 teams and a shot gun start around 1pm. Dinner at 7 and then maybe a Q&A style format with some modern managers/players and some legends and get someone like the boys from Off the Ball to host it.

Great suggestions, I'd be in favour of that.

Lads and lassies I was reading [urlhttp://www.independent.ie/sport/gaelic-football/it-is-all-about-listening-to-people-3312068.html[/url] today and was reminded of the classic. Any takers to help and organise one for springtime maybe?

Count me in Dec. What about sometime in April with an AGM in Jurys after the club finals to elect officers to the board?
