Will United be cutting their losses on Ravel Morrison? Seems to have trouble avoiding, well, trouble.

they should get rid of him.  Scum like that should have no place at United no matter how talented IMO.
If it was a one off i would give him a chance but he is constantly in trouble.

Surely Ronnie Whelan, Mark Lawrenson and the original "white Pele" Jim Beglin played in a semi in the mid eighties? Its a stretch including Lawrenson so Ziggy90 is probably right.
I take it Michael Robinson doesn't count either.

Did McPhail, Kelly and Harte play for Leeds in 2001?

I was asking the question, someone with more interest than myself in Liverpool could no doubt put me straight. Maybe you, yourself could provide the answer?

Only Harte was starting for Leeds in the 2001 semi final I believe. Danny Mills was right back.

As I'm such a nice chap I researched the "Michael Robinson" issue. He didn't play in 1985. In 1984 he was listed as a sub in the semi final first leg (don't think he came on) but not for the 2nd leg. He came on as a sub in the final. Lawrenson and Whelan started all those games.

So I'd be fairly sure that the answer to the original question is 1985 when Beglin, Lawrenson and Whelan played for Liverpool in the European Cup semi final. O'Shea (c), Evans and Gibson bridged that gap on Wednesday.

Sorry if my Lawrenson jibe annoyed people but he seems to have a funny attitude to his "Irishness" from some of his comments on TV.

Robinson never played in either leg of the semi's in 1984 but did come on as sub in extra time in final. Whelan and Lawerson played in semi's and final. He was gone after that and only played for Liverpool for a short period.

No idea on Leeds.

They played in the 1985 (Heysel) final.

I was outside Heysel a few months ago & you still get that eerie feeling of that awful tragedy.

Was there myself that summer after the disaster, the wall was still down and scarf's still lying about, very eerie indeed

Good to see both Gibson and O'Shea play and play well in such an important game.

It was strange to hear Ferguson in the post match interview admit vulnerability. He said he spent a sleepless night juggling his doubts, wondering what team to play. He sounded very relaxed as if this year's plan was all falling into place, after a small blip last week.

yes i wonder when last time 3 Irishmen played in a European Semi final
Good spot.

The following lined out in a European Final:

Pat Jennings
Pat Rice
Sammy Nelson
Dave O'Leary
Liam Brady
Frank Stapleton

It was much better than that farce of a UEFA cup they have now.
God they made some boll1x of that.
Fond memories of defeating Barcelona in Rotterdam back in 91. I dont think many gave us much of a chance that night either. 20 years on can we upset the apple cartin Wembley. Both United and barca won their 1st European Cups in Wembley Stadium.

There is a EA Sports Fifa 11 thing that comes up on my facebook every week,I'm not even sure why as I don't remember signing up for it.
What it is is they simulate a FIFA 11 game of the upcoming big matches.
More often than not they actually predict the right result, not always the correct score but from what I have seen and I don't look at it every week but they get the result correct I'd guess at least 8 times out of 10.
Just looked at it there now and for tomorrow the simulated game finished Man U 1 Chelsea 2...
Just thought ye would like to know is all...Probably all a load of balls though   :D
