Agree with NT about th FA cup, doesn't interest me that much, not anywhere near as much as it should. I don't buy this carryon about the "magic" of the cup and the English media portrayal, you'd think it's the only domestic cup where big teams ever get knocked out by smaller ones.

United Pulling out of the Fa Cup in 2000 didn't help it & it's getting more & more like the league cup where the big clubs playing weakened teams

I always watch MOTD it's kinda like a tradition same with the Sunday game

Shrewdness

Re the Glazers etc. Having just sold Ben Foster for 6M, United then announced that young reserve keeper, Ben Amos, will be promoted to number 3 at Old Trafford next season.
In other words, no money will be spent acquiring a goalkeeper with at least some experience to call on.

Therefore, can we assume that the 6M received for Foster will disappear into the vast black hole that are now United's finances :o

I wouldn't be holding my breath on United making a good start to next season. Fergie has stated that all United players going to the World Cup, will be given a break of 28 days from their last World Cup game, before they return to pre season training.

He conceded that several of them will miss the start of the season, and was quite specific in saying that Berbatov will lead the line for the opening games, as Rooney is not expected to have enough training done after his post World Cup break.

Or to people not going to pubs on a saturday night

Good point actually.

Do people still watch MOTD? In my youth it was must see tv and even if you went out on a Saturday night you would be craning your neck to watch it in the pub even with the sound down. Now with the abundance of coverage Football First, Goals on Sunday , SSN plus instant goal highlights and live match coverage on the internet I find I rarely watch MOTD (unless United have had a particularly pleasing result :)).

Oh for the innocent days of Jimmy Hill, Motty and Barry Davies..

And £100 worth of Premium Bonds!!!

IMO Leeds are a bigger club than Chelsea Norf, & it's not the first time united have lost to lower divsion team by playing a weakened team

here's a good example to my point http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/fa_cup/8468706.stm they treat both cups the same these days, strange for a team without a cup for 5 years

Chelsea were founded 14 years before Leeds so you could argue they have more "tradition" than Leeds, whatever that means.

Not too bothered with no goalie coming in. We didn't really need both Foster and Kuszczak. Amos sounds like a decent prospect anyway, England U21 international and all.

The passing down of elements of a culture from generation to generation, especially by oral communication

Totally agree with you. However when you do express an opinion that one thing is 'bigger' than another, the least I'd expect is something tangible to back it up with. Not some watery auld drivel. Especially you stat man.
