A grand plan to connect Belfast City Airport by rail to the city centre.

A handy 20 years work at least there for the civil servants.

I took the train from my house to the City Airport at the start of the year, its a 20 mins walk from the platform (where it currently sits) to the entrance, footbridge and path to the airport in place!

Would much prefer train system to Aldergrove, higher volume of people using it

Totally agree. A train to Aldergrove would make much more sense.

I'm sure it wasnt you but I do snigger at people who walk along the Sydenham Bypass to the airport instead of walking along the designated path behind the fence.

Here's the pedestrian walkway dipshits

Inside of the fence / outside of the fence. Does it really matter?

There doesn't seem  to be any exit  from that path behind the  fence

Not 100% sure. But I think there is a buzzer to get a lift up to terminal on bus ! They obviously don't advertise it !

Getting to any airport in Ireland is a mission without a car IF youre rurally based.

Notable exception Letterkenny to Dublin Airport bus service is v reliable.

[Was without car for month last year]

The major  cities/towns  are all well serviced to Dublin airport.  Citylink bus is  a good  service and very reasonably priced.

Belfast city airport had  a bus  service leaving every 20 minutes from  main bus  centre. Haven't used it in  years, assume  it's still  as frequent. Leaves you  right at the door. Very handy.

Travelled from it a few times now and I have just got the train out to it. 5 mins walk from there. Very handy.  Belfast International on the other hand....

International would have a lot of push backs on having a train taking people to it.. Most coming from those that have made a decent living of having space to park cars!

On that note the cost of car parking at airports is becoming beyond ridiculous.

Disgraceful, nearly as bad as the queues to get parked as well.

For me, to get there and park its around the same price for a taxi there and back. So I try and get a lift going and just get a taxi when coming home, but if ya live further away its expensive for a taxi so they have ya hooked!

Train is a couple of miles away that passes through Templepatrick, would not be a huge expense to feed a link from the track that goes to Antrim from there to the airport

There's a line right beside the airport that was closed a few years ago (not sure how many) that runs from Lisburn to Antrim. They have to replace one bridge I think but it's only a one way line which has timing issues. It goes from Knockmore Station in Lisburn to Antrim though Crumlin and Aldergrove etc
