Seen this article and though this does not happen often?

Underage amalgamations keep weak clubs alive to senior.

10 Of The Most Successful GAA Clubs That No Longer Exist

The Club in my parish was let go in the early 70's. Two neighbouring clubs emerged from it's demise.

Dregish, County Tyrone

Was that not technically an amalgamation with Newtownstewart to form Naomh Eoghan? Always wondered what the benefit to Newtown was in that arrangement as the new team play in their pitch and they seem to provide most of the players?

Younger than me obviously.
Tirgarvil, Littlebridge and Aghadowey in my lifetime.
And various Derry city outfits.

Thought Ogra were still trying to make a comeback.

Aghadowey? Wouldn't seem the most traditional of places?
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Aghadowey James Connolly's survived into the mid 80s. Might have been the home club of Malachy McAfee.
But, you're right, they would have struggled for numbers.

There was a team started for only 3/4 yrs up in Derry city back early 00's. Played outta celtic park!

Newry Mitchels. The kingpins of Down in the 1960s, when Down were the kingpins of Ireland.

I'm not sure that they're entirely folded, but sadly I'm also sure they're not coming back.

I'm not going to relay the full story as I don't know it. But they found themselves homeless, and then ended up in no man's land at the end of an industrial estate. An awful shame.

Yeah, using a council pitch at the bottom of the Industrial Estate. That pitch will soon have the Newry relief road run through the centre of the pitch and i mean directly through the goal mouths from one end to the other so they will not be going back to that pitch.
I can swim a little but i can't fly an inch

Mourne Red

Killyleagh another Down club.. Ballykinlar another one, not fielded a senior men's team in 4 years or so - Have a couple of players underage amalgamated with other clubs but hard to see a senior team coming from that.

St.Josephs. Played in Green and White. Came out of St. Joseph's High School in Creggan, but a lot of boys who played were Galliagh men close to my club Steelstown. Decent at underage. Think they may have won a North Derry A Minor Championship.

Another team around that time were Enagh from Strathfoyle in the Waterside. Just had underage. I think they were about in the 70s for a wile too.
