The discussion about the BBC re Gerry Adams in particular and northern nationalists in general was ticking along very nicely until Dion reacted to Joe's comment that McDowell was pro-british. All Joe had to do then was explain to Dion (a dullard on most things to do with the North) that McDowell was an Irish national who held very strong  pro-British views when it came to the Troubles, that opposition to the IRA campaign in itself is not enough to define one as pro-british, in fact McDowell ticked all the pro-british boxes, hatred of the republican movement was just one of those boxes. Instead what Joe did was resort to type, interrupting, importantly not listening to Dion's and going all  over-emotional in the discussion, that Joe knows best , that Joe knows the better truth than even the people who agree with him. About the only thing missing  were a few tears shed by Joe on behalf of the grievous hurt done to Gerry's character and by default to all northern nationalists.

Sometimes Joe hasn't got the foggiest of what he's blabbering on about, the other day he was attempting a whitewash of Hezbollah and failing miserably, most blatantly in ignoring  their immense mercenary support given to the tyrant Assad in the  Syrian Civil War for over 12 years.
Nice also that Joe dragged up John Pilger again, this time when referring to the cunning pernicious BBC. Pilger was also a great supporter of the tyrannical regime of Assad. Anybody with an ounce of cop on in journalistic circles and world politics  knows that Pilger has become a mere Kremlin mouthpiece and a well paid propagandist. Joe has unwittingly earned the ignominious term to be called a 'useful idiot'.

A very good post. I agree with Joe on plenty, but he sees the world in very simplistic, black & white, terms. There's never any nuance with him.

I listen to the podcast most weeks and I have noticed that even though it is supposed to be a discussion between two people on the topics of the day Joe is speaking the vast majority of the time. When Dion wants to make a point and Joe wishes to speak Joe interrupts Dion and talks over him until Dion eventually gives way. Joe isn't the greatest listener in the world !

...and the prize for stating the absolute obvious goes to?..

Joe's delving, you know, into depths of serious narcissistic self-loathing, you know, he's really cracking up, cracking up. I once though it was a contradiction, narcissism and self-loathing in the one person but with Joe's personality both are operating in perfect harmony at the same time.
These days he's presenting himself as an authority, an authority no less of Middle East modern history, you know.
Afaics he's been reading verbatim from various readers digest whiter than whitewashing versions about Iran, Hezbollah and most lately on Saint Muammar Gaddafi once of Libya, who in Joe's eyes should be posthumously presented with a Nobel prize of sorts. Joe probably calls this endeavor serious"research" others who digress would probably term it absolute total bullshxte. Nevertheless it's gripping entertainment listening to this vainglorious pundit on a car crash journey.

Plenty have gone on the same journey.

It all starts with well-meaning support for Palestine and ends up down the rabbit hole. Like Tadhg Hickey doing comedy sketches about the treatment of Palestinians and somehow ending up at the funeral of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.

🤣🤣🤣 what a tit

Never liked his stuff, just a bit shite in general

His latest twitter musings include "If anyone's looking for me I've just dropped my phone down the toilet reading about the ceasefire. This is my reaility. #PrayForTadhgsPhone"

Absolutely inane drivel

Yeah, I gave up on it a while back as Brolly's manner without constraints just gets tiresome. At least on the Sunday Game, Michael Lyster kept him somewhat under control, while Spillane and O'Rourke were no shrinking violets, but Fanning just lets him walk all over him.

This week's podcast a eulogy to David Clifford, who Joe suggests is greatest ever. Unfortunately for Tyrone he may be correct. However suggested a few times that he never gets injured.. before saying Tyrone beat Kerry in 2021 All Ireland semi-final because Clifford went off injured 🤷
