Take the Mark

I am confident that the amount of football I have watched outside of my own club the past few years is up there with most.

I cant speak with exact accuracy about Portgleones squad but Cargins is a fairly young squad of players, a lot of whom with minor medals and a handful of seniors - that are indeed under 25. Both finalists age profile i dare say younger than either of the beaten semi finalists. Of course the influx from Lavey will help St Brigids demographic slightly.

On the flip side, if you were even correct - what of these young senior sides you speak of? What have they done of late or how far have they gotten in SFC? I mean, Cargin would most likely have won the u21 championship also if it wasnt for scheduling.

If a player makes himself available for selection then they'll get an opportunity I'm sure of that and if they meet the standards that the manager has or is looking for then they are in.

This isn't aimed at anyone or county, that's the way it should be, It should be an honor to play for your county and a lot of our older brigade have served them well and owe the county nothing with regards to the effort they have put in.

But the onus is on the players to commit, and you wouldn't want it any other way if you were looking after a team. McEntee has his squad and is working with them, I'm not sure if people want him to go to non committed players with a begging bowl or want him to pick the popular team on paper

Great win for Antrim, great start to the season.
On the comments above, I would say don't worry who is not there, worry about who has been asked into the squad, but how did Ballymena not win the Intermediate All Ireland, they have 5 men in the squad and it would of been 6 if McAleer hadn't taken some time out.  Serious contingent for any team, must be dark horses this year

Anyway, Ballymena for the senior championship?

Fionn Nagle had a decent debut, a bit more confidence to take on his man and the big lad would be hard to stop. Ryan murray very rusty but only to be expected with a long time out. Hand & Stewart were good in midfield if a bit too casual at times with passing. Solo and go added to the game, the 3 man up rule got us a free when we badly needed a score, other than that it wasnt much of a day for football.
Fermanagh will be much tougher oppostion on Sunday at Ederney.

How did the 9 officials get on? Did they miss anything?

The transfer rumours have started for the new season. Hearing young Tiernan Quinn plays for coalisland is trying to get a transfer request in to Creggan as he has moved there to live with his girlfriend.

Think he was maybe on the Tryone panel, anyone making the tryone panel must be a good player.

Be a great addition to the kickhams.

Quote from: asaffgael on January 26, 2025, 11:37:21 PMEunan Quinn was on the bench. Shivers isn't good enough and doesn't have the work rate. He even frustrates many of the green and white.

This is just false, put big Shivers in a lower team and he stands out alot more. He frustrates Cargin supporter cause they know how good he can be.

I can assure you put him in full forwarded for st endas like nagel and he would stand out more than him as hes just a better player.
