Quote from: Gael85 on December 02, 2023, 11:08:03 PMBrendan Harrison Mayo officially retired. He hadn't played for a couple years?

yeah he was completely dogged with injuries. Was a great defender on his day, won an all star i'm near sure?
Yes won All Star in 2016. His last appearance for Mayo was round 7 in NFL 2022 against Kildare.

In other news Michael Murphy ended speculation that he would be coming out of retirement.

"That was it, I was out. Just because Jim has come back, as much as there's a loyalty there from me to him, and from me to Donegal, it still doesn't change in terms of the playing point of view.

"Definitely it was never a case of ever going back and that's still the case now. I'll try to give to Donegal in another way. I'm heavily involved with my own club and I'll get back involved with Donegal at underage now and give back in that way. No playing for me, it's job done, 100 per cent."

Murphy you liar!

Armagh18

Interesting one with Murphy. The new rules are nearly custom made for his strengths while hiding his weaknesses.

Kerry should bring back bomber Liston.

Yeah, wondered why he was commentating and not playing on Sat night, quality player. So retired from club also?
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Not retired from club. Didn't commit to the hurling this year as far as I know. Now that he's retired from inter county, I wouldn't be surprised to see him back hurling with the club next year.

Was going to be too big a demand on Chrissy to be playing both club hurling and football plus inter-county. Thought we might have seen him commit to one more year but he knows himself when the time is right. Time catches up with the best of us and Chrissy is no different. The man owes Derry football nothing.

I'd say the BBC are already on to him about replacing Murphy.

He was very insightful on Saturday night, could listen to him rightly as a TV pundit.

Good luck to him, great career.

Chrissy obviously not inspired by the managerial appointment.

Derry will probably revert to the mean now.

Donegal Armagh Tyrone a good bit ahead of them you'd have to say.

Armagh18

One of the best performances I've seen live was him on Diarmuid Connolly in the club championship in 2016 or 2017. Unreal that day.

By all accounts a totally hateful hoor to play against which is a great compliment for a defender. Will be some miss for Derry.

You'll not catch too many out with that one....

Plenty of talent in Derry, they'll not be far away from the top table next year if they get their act together.
