From the Irish independent.

Roscommon midfielder Tadhg O'Rourke has announced his retirement from inter-county football having played eight seasons in primrose and blue seniors.

The Tulsk clubman made his senior debut for the Rossies against Tyrone in their 2017 Division 1 League clash and he departs with a pair of Connacht SFC titles to his name (2017 and 2019), as well as two Division 2 League crowns (2018 and 2020).

O'Rourke was vice-captain in Davy Burke's first season in charge in 2023 but he was subsequently ruled out of that championship campaign having suffered an Achilles injury at the end of their League campaign.

He underwent surgery and endured a lengthy rehabilitation before forcing his way back into the county reckoning this season and he returned in their Division 1 win against Monaghan in February before featuring in a sprinkling of championship games.

In total, he represented the Roscommon senior footballers 70 times and Burke paid high praise to him last year in the wake of an injury that ended his season.

"He was our vice-captain, he was a real man. From the first day we met him, he has been a trustworthy, loyal type of player. He's a tough man," Burke said last year.

"You'd love to go to war with him if you could play yourself. He'd be plugging holes and doing the dirty stuff quietly."
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Best wishes to Tadhg on his returement from County football.
A hard grafting unfashionable middle 8 man who always gave his all.

Kildare's Paul Cribbin has announced his retirement from inter-county football.
Cribbin made his senior debut for the county in 2013, having won a Leinster U-21 title that year.

He had spent the previous two years with AFL club Collingwood, one of a quartet of Kildare players who were on the books of AFL clubs in the first part of the last decade.

Cribbin played international rules for Ireland in 2015 and was an Allstar nominee in 2018.

Kildare GAA paid tribute to the Johnstownbridge man, stating he has been a "standout player known for his power runs, scoring ability and unwavering dedication to the Lilywhite jersey, with over 100 appearances in league and championship."

Cribbin himself described it as "the honour of my life to represent Kildare."

Stephen 34 and Adrian 31 next year.

Never realised Spillane was that old. Both of the brothers showed flashes of brilliance at times but were never consistent enough to hold down a spot.

Tipperary's Conor Sweeney announced his retirement from inter-county football after playing a leading role with Premier County senior teams for 15 years.
The Ballyporeen native's career highlight was inspiring Tipperary to their first Munster SFC title in 85 years by scoring 0-7 against Cork in the 2020 final. Sweeney would go on to win an All-Star at full-forward for that season, as the Premier County lost out to Mayo in the All-Ireland SFC semi-final.

One of his great points.

Between him and Tomas ose for the best half backs I've seen in my time.

Some player, some team. But you'd often wonder at that Dublin team playing all their important games in their home pitch.
They talk of the magic of the Hill and how it helped them.

They were so dominant they destroyed Leinster football.
