From a boy that tbh doesn't set the world alight elsewhere.

He was referring to Walt, so presume you mean Cranston. He's an outstanding actor.

If you mean Aaron Paul, then yes, as incredible as he is as Jesse, not much else to write home about.

Particularly enjoyed his performance in Your Honor on more recent times.

Yeah I was referring to Brian Cranston
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

The Wire comes up here every couple of years. It remains the single greatest piece of dramatic storytelling on TV of the 21st century, far surpassing both the Sopranos and Breaking Bad. It is simply incredible, with top notch performances across all five seasons, whether the characters are cops, dealers, kids, dockworkers, journalists, teachers, politicians or the hundreds of other people that are all connected by the city.

Seeing people mention it in the same breath as unrelenting, directionless gibberish such as Lost is an affront to human intelligence. The Wire is Shakespeare. Lost is the Steve Bruce books from the end of the 90s.

So now the question is which was imtommygunn referring to. If he was also on about Cranston, we all gang up on him, no quarter given, yeah?

Sopranos > The Wire > Breaking Bad in that order.

Re-watching Breaking Bad, I don't see the need for a likeable character. It's a great watch.

Have you read them? Very difficult to get  them apparently

gallsman

Of course I haven't read them, I'm not a f**king moron.

I listed to Seamus O'Reilly talk about reading them, and that was sufficient.

There's absolutely no tension in it unless you're rooting for one of the characters. The show becomes boring then because it relies on tension. The last 3 seasons were boring imo.

Look-Up!

Wire is an excellent show, brilliant characters, great storylines, very real and cynical.

BB was good but I watched it later after all the hype and was left disappointed if I'm honest. Couldn't stand the characters. One of the reasons I kept watching was to see Jesse get his comeuppance but that didn't work out  :D .

Never saw Deadwood, might give it a go over the winter. Never followed Lost, saw the odd episode if it happened to be on the telly when I was in, that's about it but yeah, Kate was worth watching. Saw S1 of Sopranos. Excellent and will try follow up on it over winter.

One of my favourite shows is Hell on Wheels but it's not something many people have seen. Colm Meaney is outstanding in it, loveable rouge based on a real character from history. Great stories and characters and doesn't get boring as later seasons concentrate on Pacific side of the line with the Chinese. Finished up just the right time too with a very good ending.

The vince mcmahon documentary and Monsters (both on Netflix) are very good and worth watching.

The Mr. McMahon score is sanitised as hell though. If you want a proper delve into just for awful he is, I recommend the six part "Behind the Bastards" podcasts on him.

Taylor

Watched the first episode of Vince McMahon and was thoroughly disappointed.

Is it worth sticking with?

I think so yes. Once you get past the first 2 it goes on to more modern stuff.
