Quote from: Norm-Peterson on July 22, 2024, 09:51:24 AMI see Brolly said on twitter that his grandmother was from Donegal. I assume that is on his fathers side. Given that his mother's side are from the Coalisland region that means he actually doesn't have much Co.Derry ancestry. All this talk about Derryness from a man with 25% ancestry from the county.
There is no such as county purity. Many people are county "mongrels"  so to speak. Love is not defined by county.

All 16 of my Great Great Grand Parents were born in Mayo. So there's little or no Mongels blood, but probably plenty of inbreeding.

Similar, all 16 great great grandparents born in the shadow of either Slieve Gallion or Carntogher. Although my paternal grandmother was born on the Tyne. No evidence of inbreeding.

Or the really lucky ones in Derry.

I've been listening to Brolly's podcasts recently.

Easy enough listening. A range of topics. I'd say Dion does a lot of the work behind the scenes and Joe does what Joe does best, Joe just talks.

I'd say there's no topic beyond his reach. Talking about the DUP and the 12th July this past few eposides. I listened to 3 or 4 at the one time.

He's quite funny. E.g. He was fascinated by Arlene's Foster's hair - it was random and strange but funny.

As I say, easy enough listening.

Quote from: Truthsayer on July 24, 2024, 12:26:33 PMI see him and Dion have fallen foul of Bryson and slammed in a News Letter editorial for Joe listing all the people and establishment that loyalists hate... including Catholics, the GAA, the Irish language,  gays, foreigners etc etc.. was quite a list. He has a point though re-enforced by recent attacks on Armagh banners, Irish language signs, ethnic minorities...
Yeah I'm not a fan of his but he's not wrong. They're so unhappy as he's nailed them.

Typical loyalist M. O. with Brolly now - pile on in concerted numbers.

Like they tried with Pat Cullen and Colin Harvey etc. etc.

And lost.

He'll love every second of it, will revel in the attention. All is good, when it's all about him.

Unfortunately Brolly is a sort of mirror to Bryson. They are both happy to stir shit and tensions to get attention.

These issues do need to be raised, but you don't improve things by smearing whole groups. It whips up the trolls against that group and get's that group's backs up. Brolly is a complete egomaniac and while he rightly calls out the viciousness of the far right and loyalism, he often is similar in the type of rhetoric he uses in terms of personal attacks and smearing a whole group.

exactly this point in bold. Smears whole groups galore and then just offends everyone and loses his point.

Joe will have a good laught at this one. A unionist 'meeting' about the new Irish language primary school in East Belfast.

Holmes, Bryson's Pound Shop sidekick said this in his statement,

"...No community benefit.." from the school.

Think about that.

People so blinded by hatred of Brolly that when he calls out the truth will still condemn him. There is no comparison between him and UVF inspired Bryson...
In citing the groups that are hated by loyalists, he said: "The traditional unionist-loyalist community,  obviously a lot of progressives are starting to move away..." truth.
Also called out that the UUP led by 'moderate' Doug Beattie, DUP and TUV voted unanimously against a ceasefire in GAZA.. a ceasefire!

Doug likes to present himself as such but, when you dig down....

Joe can add poor Mark Sidebottom to the list that loyalists don't like after appearing on TV with an Armagh and Galway flag painted on his face.

I think it was  actually orange/white and blue/white , presumably for  Armagh (and Clann Eireann) and  Clann na Gael respectively

Ah so it was too. TUV have little to be worried about if thats what they are complaining about.
