Unbelievable Geoff. Not sure how United managed to win that. McTominay has been awful for Utd in recent appearances but pulled it out of the bag there.

Quote from: AustinPowers on October 04, 2023, 10:04:15 PMWhat's going on with McTominay?  He's far from  world class , but he at least gets stuck in

He's got 6 goals for Scotland in qualifying already ,  and by all accounts is playing well for them , so Clarke is obviously getting the best from him. Yet he can't  get any time for United. Bizarre

He really, really does not. He's quite lazy, very slow, and has a desperate first touch for a midfielder.

He's never been good enough for a top PL side, and he's definitely not the solution right now. A freak run of goals for his national side doesn't change that. He had a whole one international goal prior to March - he's revert to that mean soon enough.

Yeah he's terrible and EtH at least recognised that and banished him and Fred. OGS kept playing them and it cost him his job.

Well, mctominay might  just have kept  ETH in his job.

For a week , anyway

Says who?  He would have been  really under the cosh had they lost today. But 2 late goals doesn't exactly  make  everything rosey either . United are still awful

But if things don't pick up , I reckon he'll be gone  by Christmas

Where do you go from there then? The next shiny new toy, rinse and repeat? Pep would struggle at that club at the minute.

My wife is a teacher and I was helping her correct some exams. You could tell the mediocre students by the number of mistakes they made. Around 1 in 2. You don't get a D by accident. Man United remind me of those students .

Pretty much , yes.

Plus, if he is sacked , the next man will have to clear out ETH's  dead wood, as well as the previous managers  dead wood

Only fitting that a Scotsman scores two goals in "Fergie time" after Fergusson's wife died the other day.  McTominay's played as a striker at youth level and those attacking instants was seen on both goals.

Before that it was heading towards a carbon copy of the home defeat against a Palace last weekend.  Conceded a goal from a number of errors in what was Brentford's only attack of the half and they didn't have to play overly well to hold onto that lead until added time. Whatever about the average to poor players United have the main issue at the moment is a number of the better players are offering nothing at moment and they need to start asking questions of themselves.

Long as they're getting the 250k plus a week a good few of them couldn't give a f**k

It might get brushed over as Utd won  but Onana let in another soft one today. Made a few decent saves in the 2nd half but these mistakes need to stop and fast.

Casemiro being rightfully hooked at half time is a concern. His decline this season has been staggering but unfortunately Utds squad lacks somebody else truly capable of playing in that role alongside Amrabat.

Mount and Fernandes can't play together in this team. Both of them are poor out wide and if you play one of them in a more deep lying role it leaves the defence exposed.

Thought Garnacho was very good when he came on but part of me thinks being the impact sub is his best role at the minute but then again the only other option is Rashford whose recent performances probably deserve a spell on the bench.

As joyful as the win was today things are far from rosey. In their last 2 premier league games the build up play has been awful and it was only when they switched to last gasp desperation stuff that they got any rewards. Even against Burnley they relied on a moment of brilliance from Fernandes to get them through. They'll probably beat Sheffield Utd but you'd fear for them against City after that

Madrid are not selling good players. Casemiro has gone off like milk. Varane injured again...

This Onana dude needs to get his act together and fast. He's killing Utd. But he might also kill EtH.

This is problem when buying players at that age, run the risk of them becoming more injury prone or time catching up with them. Appears to be the case this season for Rafa and Casimero.
Obviously this is why Amrabat was brought in to help as CDM but with Shaw still out he has had to do a job for the team.

I have no sense of ETH being under pressure, get the injuries back in and a settled team and see where it goes from there. It's a perpetual cycle until the club changes ownership. I think that is the only way the reset button will be hit to any great affect.

Qatar now officially out of united sale process. Glazers have turned down $7 billion in cash so Sheik Jassim has pulled out of the process. I'd say they've told him they prefer Sir Jim's bid so Qatar will now go in search of another club. Reportedly interested in Inter Milan
