There is a strange acceptance of holding by defenders at corners. Show me a corner that some kind of infringement doesn't take place, yet if you graze someones shin and they go down as if shot it's a peno

I think both managers went out not to lose that game and move on. Suspect privately they'd have taken 0-0 at the outset and that's what happened. United had the better of what few chances there were but got away with a penalty concession by Maguire. Probably finished the game stronger...I felt United were going to nick it at the end.

Never understood the holding at corners craic, if it happened out the field it would be a free kick therefore any holding or grabbing should be a penalty if it happens in the box.

Another decent first half against a good Leipzig team. Chances at a premium though. Greenwood took his goal well.

The new player in midfield is good with the ball at his feet...Pogba with an assist borderline offside and seen some of them go other way!

Can't see it being one nil though! They are decent

Brian Kerr is trying to give United penalties glad hes not the ref. Van De Beek stood on the ball and fell over.

Not doing so badly in the group of death so far. Outstanding result against the German league leaders and last seasons CL semi finalists whom are managed by one of the best young managers in Europe.

Ole got it all spot on tonight, starting team, tactics, subs brought on, Rashford off the bench to score a hat trick against Upamecano was very impressive.

It'll be quiet on here tonight

Rashford is some pup. 🔥

Impressive performance. Deserved scoreline. Soaked up the pressure from Leipzig and made it count at the other end. Can't fault any of them. Pity they're so bloody frustratingly inconsistent though!

Brilliant result, first 20 minutes were good and the last 20 minutes were brilliant. Got no issue with United playing like that in Europe although we struggled for a good chunk of that game to create anything but there excellently organised side at pressing and make it difficult to pin them back albeit they don't have anything like the quality United have in the final 3rd.

It wasn't just Rashfords who made a difference, thought Fernandes and McTominay were both superb too.

Sunday is another big game, interesting to see what Ole will do. I see Telles has Covid so he's ruled out which is a shame as rules out playing wing backs, Martial still suspended.

Thought this thread would be quiet today. The explanations given (and largely ignored) by the "Ole out" brigade and mocking supporters of other sides are proving to be correct. United were undercooked, top players (Rashford and Fernandes particularly) were out of form and no new signings. While Van Basten criticised Van De Beek's choice of club I think he's mistaken. Van De Beek will do well at United and last night showed Ole definitely rates him. His performance justified that. No one can play every game....those days are gone. Great that United now seem to have rotation options in the front 4 positions. And midfield. As MM points out while Rashford and Fernandes will get the headlines, McTominay just blitzed them when he came in. Really enjoyed that performance and result against a really good side.

That's not to say everything is rosy and a tough game at the weekend. Need to put a few wins together in the league soon.

Jeepers Creepers

You could see in the last 20 mins that there is now compettion for most places, every ball was being chased down even at 3-nil. Players also getting back to ful fittness too, Utd now have decent squad depth for most positons. Focus now shifts to Sunday. Utd desperatley need to start clocking up points in the league. What team will OGS start with?

Result last night puts the club in a great position to qualify from the group. Two wins against the Turkish side would seal that.

The opportunity to rest players without concern for the final two group games would be a massive help, especially with everything so condensed this season. Play City in the league four days after the return game in Leipzig.
