The best part is MR2 claims he doesn't care, and everyone else needs to wise up :)

Sure he doesn't even support United, don't ya know.

Slightly better in the league. But sure qualifying for the Cl and going out early isn't much to shout about.

The Europa League games on a Thursday night could also hinder the top 4 aim

Life and fate

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1180664-manchester-united-history-1970-1979

All  good things come to an end, and the success that Manchester United experienced under Sir Matt Busby  FERGIE  is no exception. Just before the 1970s, Busby stepped down as manager. Busby accepted a role as director at the club following his managerial retirement, and this would signal the end of an era at the club, although his influence is undoubtedly still felt at Old Trafford. Former United player Wilf McGuinness MOYES, whose son Paul is currently the under-18s head coach and Assistant Academy Director at United, was promoted from reserve team coach to be Busby's successor. In his first season at the club, United would only finish eighth in the First Division
McGuinness reached three semifinals during his brief tenure, but his reign at the club was ultimately without any trophies. In December 1970, McGuinness was demoted to reserve team coach and Busby briefly returned to his managerial duties.

Unfortunately, even Busby was helpless to stop the club from entering a period of decline. Busby led the club to another eighth place finish before Frank O'Farrell LVG took over at the conclusion of the 1970-71 season.United were suffering from an aging squad and found themselves in the relegation battle early in the new decade.
Tommy Docherty PEP had taken over as the manager during the 1971-72 season, and it seemed that Charlton was not in his plans, although it is believed Docherty did not want to be the man who decided to part

But coming from the position Moyes (who unfortunately became a scapegoat) had, finishing outside of the European competition, meant that getting to top four and maintaining it (regardless of how shit the league is, as its shit for most teams) was the minimum requirement, I.e stability before pushing on and winning or challenging for league titles...

Based on last season and this season Utd will find it hard to do either.... You can have plenty possession but if you don't have a goal scorer then you are sunk..... I suppose its all about expectations, some supporters of clubs have higher expectations, Utd are were they are based mainly on the squad they have... Arsenal should push on and hopefully give Wenger a great send off

He  achieved top 4 last season. Scrapped over the line with no distraction of European football. That was fair enough .

They aren't progessing in the way they play, if they were they might look like a team who could win the League. Leicester playing without fear, one of the few good teams to watch, along with Arsenal and City.

Was talking about Moyes not getting to Europe... LVH did what he said he'd do.... Get back to top four, done, as for the rest, won't happen, plenty managers claim they will win this and do that... Its a sales pitch

The league has been average to poor for a four or five years now. Moyes would still be Manchester United manager now if he kept the champions of 2013 in the top four. Two top four finishes is more than likely under Van Gaal and from that he should see out his three year contract with the club.

If they don't make top 4, he should leave at the end of the season.

He seems like he is going through the motions, said the United the job will be his last in football ,at the end of his contract 2017.

Pochettino would be a decent choice.

Id rather he go as well unless he gets a decent /proven striker and changes it around... Utd do have some great talent but they will lose them very quickly unless things improve

The league has been on a downward spiral since about 2009, the matches between the big clubs were of really high quality.
As for Moyes you're right he'd have kept his job if we'd finished top 4, I don't think there's a manger ever been so out of depth at a big club ever and I don't think his 12 months in Spain has done anything to help his reputation.

I've backed LVG but I really doubt he'll be at the club next season if he finished 4th playing poor football, he'd need to win a trophy to keep his job. The fans have really turned on him, things really need to improve.
