Mad finish tonight as St Galls scored TWO injury-time goals to beat Creggan Kickhams at their place by 2-9 to 2-8 in the Antrim SFL: https://vimeo.com/66277770

All over Tipp 0-11 Cork 0-8. Tipp play Kerry in the final and for the second time in 3 years Cork beat Kerry only to be knocked out by Tipp while Kerry go through to a Munster final!!

Joke that system. Some serious players coming through in Tipperary.

Brilliant win for the minors tonight in Semple Stadium. Delighted for Charlie McGeever after stepping into Davie Powers shoes, but it shows that the continuity is there. That's 3 years in a row beating Cork I think, and looking for 4 wins over Kerry in 3 years in the final. That sort of success would be unheard of 10 years ago, and the challenge is to keep it going even when blips or bumps come along.

Kerry will be very tough in the final, but fair play to Tipp on a great night tonight.

How would this team compare to some of the recent teams AZ?

Great win for Tipp tonight.   A hugely under rated minor team gave a heart warming display to beat Cork for the 3rd year in a row.  No mean feat.  Tipp missed a lot of scores and shot several bad wides, but the backs were outstanding and Colin O'Riordan gave an exhibition at midfield.  Alan Tynan was the main man in attack scoring 7 points.  This is a very young team, with 3 Under 16's and very few gave them a chnace against Cork tonight.

Wouldn't be as highly rated as its immediate predecessors but is very game and tight at the back. As onlooker mentions a few u16s on the panel including 3 on the pitch tonight. The vast majority came through the academy and they would have been very competitive in development tournaments.

Cork are out of the championship altogether after 1 defeat - while Kerry lose to Cork then and then make final after beating Waterord. Not that there should really be a second chance in the provincial championship, maybe for the finalists. Fair play to Tipp

What sort of team do Kerry have this year? Last year's team were the idiot savants of the championship, possibly the most amazing (for the wrong reasons) run to the AISFs I've ever seen. Even a young Tipp team should account for them unless there's some exceptional new additions to the panel.

Let Kerry and Cork play a best of 7!

Having seen Tipp's matches against Clare and Cork, I would say that they improved a lot between these two games as minor teams often do.  To compare them with the All Ireland winning team of 2011 or last year's Munster winning teams is difficult this early in the season, but I would be happy that the defence measures up quite well to those teams and is possibly stronger in the full back line than last year's team,  Colin O'Riordan is certainly the best midfielder to have played for Tipp in the last 3 years, but his partners against Clare or Cork were not as good as last year's two midfielders.  As for the forwards they do not have players of the class of Liam McGrath, Michael Quinlivan, Philip Quirke or Colman Kennedy. but Alan Tynan at 15 years of age is a very promising looking player and will improve a lot in the coming months and years.  The other corner forward Paul Maher had a fine game as well, but the big name forwards, Tom Kirwan (outstanding against Clare) and Josh Keane were well below their best last night.  Tipp don't have anything like the bench they had in 2011, but have done much better than any of us expected and there could be more to come.  IMO it is very important that we have produced another good minor team and are not just depending on the fine teams of 2011 and 2012.  The production line appears to be still working well.

O'Riordan's a good lad as well, and the full back, young Feehan, played just 10 days after dislocating his elbow. They have spirit and fight. Charlie will work on the finishing with them, but as you said youngsters can improve a lot in a short time. (They can also have seriously bad days from time to time, and it's hard to tell sometimes why other than they are young).

This team, without the Under 16s currently on the panel, won their U15 tournament and lost the U16 final in Munster. I know tournaments are basically blitzes and you cannot tell or predict with great accuracy on the back of them, but their level of competitiveness at their age group in the academy process did give an indication that they would hold their own at this level. Add in the extra lads from U16 and the odd late developer from outside the academy and that might just give them that extra impetous.

There are a couple of good crops coming behind them too, including the age group Tynan and the lads would nominally be in. Of course a lot can happen between now and then, but in terms of supplying the senior team, which is the ultimate aim, the target of producing enough footballers every year to keep it ticking over is on course so far.
