Sectarianism existed prior to partition,  and it will still exist after partition.  But the dissolution of an establishment designed to support it is bound to have a positive effect on the whole country.  And both Catholic and Protestant communities will be better off.

Sectarianism is a disease incubated by the existence of the Northern state.  A successful unity referendum will be the biggest step towards removing this cancer from society.

I firmly believe that the best cure for sectarianism in the North is to end the false state of Northern Ireland. Micheal Martin and other fake Nationalists in Fianna Fail and others. say that reconciliation must come before unity. I believe that Unity is the key to reconciliation not the other way around. It is time for a Unity referendum.  If it was booked now with a date of 2028/2029/2030 then I am 100% confident it would pass. The behaviour of Unionist parties convinces me that they are in total denial about the change that is coming.  And furthermore when Unity happens I think a lot of people from the Protestant Community will be relieved that it's all over.

The argument by Peter Shirlow is that a Unity referendum is not on the cards because the Nationalist vote is the same now as in 1998. This is bullshit, and embarrassing for him.
In Westminster in 1998 Unionists held
-West Tyrone
-Fermanagh and South Tyrone
-North Belfast
-South Belfast
-Lagan Valley
It is possible that they could win back Lagan Valley some day,  but the first four seats will never again be held by a Unionist for as long as Northern Ireland exists.
The world has changed,  Unionists don't have the numbers.  The time for Unity is NOW.

 It looks like NI Sports minister Gordon Lyons is set for the Armagh Derry match in the Athletic Grounds on Saturday night.  He has effectively been shamed into this. If he really had any interest in attending a GAA match it would have happened before now.  If he insists on not taking his seat until after the National Anthem should he just be told to f**k off back home??
