Think there's a lot of over-reaction on here re: the defeat yesterday...  I would agree that the loss mightn't do anyone (supporters included) any harm in advance of a difficult Championship opener.

Sean Cavanagh is definitely not a WHF and should be played at FF - whether he likes it or not.  I remember when he won player of the year at FF he was complaining that he preferred Midfield, however his best performances have always been at FF.

Someone mentioned above that if you stop Peter Harte you stop Tyrone - I'm not sure if I agree but what I would say is that it is a measure of the player that something like that is even being thought at such a young age.

Some posters also being very harsh on Aidan Cassidy - I remeber seeing him make a few appearances before he had that leg-break playing for Augher...  Cassidy is a good player.  Would have no worries about him - although who's winning the breaking ball from the half forward line?  As someone pointed out, Dooher is (as he was always going to be) a massive loss in this regard.

One final thing - are people on here really saying that Tyrone's chances are gone becasue Ronan O'Neill and Kyle Coney are injured?  Two young, relatively inexprienced players who weren't even guaranteed a stating place come championship????

Jesus wept....

Whatever about Brennan, he really deserves his go.  Give him the same time that Cassidy had (2 years) and see how he gets on.  There is nobody involved in football in Derry with a record to come close to his, nobody.

I also honestly feel that his 'character;) is exactly the medicine that we need right now.

If he's given the job, his back room team will also be crucial - when you look at Down's it looks like a dream-team with Paddy Tally, Brian McIver and Jerome Johnston.

Whoever gets the job must be allowed some time, we were so poor last year, and for the last number of years, that I honestly would be content to see good organisation and some passion.  Once that's in place, try and develop the good players that we have in to great ones (something Paddy Tally is renowned for) - for example Mark Lynch, James Kielt, Sean Leo McGoldrick and Caolan O'Boyle.

Great win for Aghyaran away to Donaghmore...  Especially after their last outing against Killyclogher

Does anyone know if the game tomorrow night is an all-ticket affair?

From the BBC:

Derry U21 pair in senior line-up

Derry Under-21 players James Kielt and Lee Moore have been named by Damien Cassidy in the senior team to face Mayo in the Allianz NFL Division One clash.

Both were involved in the midweek U21 Championship win over Tyrone.

Kielt partners Patsy Bradley at midfield with Fergal Doherty starting at number 10, while Paddy Bradley moves out to centre half-forward.

Martin Dunne continues in goal in place of Barry Gillis, while Barry McGuigan and Brian Mullan drop to the bench.

Derry have just one win from three matches while Mayo have lost just once.

Derry: M Dunne; M McGoldrick, K McCloy, D McBride; C Kielt, M Lynch, G O'Kane; P Bradley, J Kielt; F Doherty, P Bradley, A McLaughlin; R Wilkinson, E Bradley, L Moore.

Agree that Derry need to win, I also think that with Mayo missing a good few men (Ronaldson in particular who destroyed Ronan McNabb in Omagh) and the game being played in Derry that Derry could win by three/four. Be bouyed by last nights performance by the U-21s too

I would love to be proved wrong, but I suspect that Dunloy may struggle.  Even if they manage to beat Portumna and reach the final (a huge task) Ballyhale Shamrocks will prove a tough nut to crack as well.  St. Galls have a real, genuine opportunity to lift an all-Ireland though...  Mind you, it'd be great if they both managed to get to the final!!

Will be much tighter than Saturday  ;) but will be another good test for a young and developing side...  Here's hoping for another good result

Indeed it sounds reflective but I think its cleverly trying to ask himself what he could do but it still leaves this underlying feeling that Sean has got himself into too much crap now and it sounds like he can't deal with it.

Its weird that he doesn't even mention the stomach bug at all which by its absence surely speaks volumes.

No matter what way you look at it I don't think Sean will take it with a pinch of salt.

Maybe he's not pleased at Colm getting a rough deal. He surely should have got more match time this year.

He gets too much already if you ask me!

;D ;D ;D ;D You're right there Sideline...

Any reports on the Aghyarn/Killyclogher relegation playoff. Think it will be difficult for the Aghyarn men to lift themselves for next week game against Kildress as I heard they should have won yetserday.

Aghyaran were unlucky on Saturday - not a lot between the teams.  Aghyaran had a lot of possession and had two good goal scoring opportunities - 1 in the first half and 1 in the second, while Killyclogher missed a penalty.  There were also genuine appeals for an Aghyaran penalty in the second half.  By all accounts Aghyaran are well set up for next Saturday - if they play like they did against Omagh/Killyclogher they should have (just) enough to see off Kildress and stay in division 1 for another year.

Still can't believe that Killyclogher got to a county semi-final and were unlucky to lose to Ardboe.

Good to hear people agree that McGoldrick had a good game at CHB - a great result even though the opposition poor (although you can only beat what's put in front of you)

Damien cassidy??

The board are a disgrace... They need to look at themselves and then have a look at other county boards, I.e the Tyrone and Armagh boards. Conway's right, football is going nowhere in Derry and it has nothing to do with potential or lack of talent

Eoin shouldn' start - he's a huffy, selfish wee shite and he really isn't that good - overrated in my humble opinion.  Devlin should start...

A spell on the line would do him good.  Also the biggest mistake Crozier made was making McCloy Captain, he's another who shouldn't make the team, been woeful all year.  Think Sean Marty & Mickey McGoldrick are big, big losses.  Plus, he needs to work out once and for all where to play Lynch to get the best out of him.  I don't blame Lynch, I blame Crozier for not knowing where to play him.

Also, rumour has it that McCloskey's doing everything at training, with Crozier looking on..  Any truth in it?

I agree - Derry should be trying to beat everyone every time they run out.  Paddy Heaney wrote in the Irish News a couple of weeks ago about Derry's lack of self-belief being their biggest failure as they certainly have the talent to win Ulster and mount a serious challenge for Sam - although Joe Brolly (writing in the Gaelic Life) wrote off what Paddy Heaney had said as tripe, I think there is something in it...  However i'm not so confident about the talent issue - Mark Lynch and James Conway are two obvious weak links and there are many people who doubt Conleith Gilligan's ability to cope on the big stages.  Anyone agree?
