Quote from: oakleaflad on August 07, 2025, 05:03:01 PMIt was right to move him on, despite what some who watch him once in a blue moon will say. He wasn't at the required standard. His touch is probably the worst of any United midfielder I've seen in the last 10 years.
There were a lot of opposition goalkeepers weren't too fond of his touch either.

For every goal knocked in, there were two conceded from being overrun or losing the ball in midfield.

Quote from: Rossfan on July 28, 2025, 11:05:04 PMJases now people who enjoy watching football again are "a cult".

Most people enjoyed watching football in 2024 It wasn't perfect and we were open to rule changes to get more pace into games and a better offence-defence balance.  Instead the FRC completely changed the game.

Yes some of you are behaving like you're in a cult. "I'm bored with football.  Change the rules or I'm going to drink some Kool Aid"!

I've seen little respect here for the football fans who were happy with where the game was a year ago. Actually it's been six months of endless insults.  Like we're to blame because people like you no longer enjoyed Gaelic Football.

Look how divided football fans are now.  I know the FRC will wait for dinosaurs, like me, to go away.  Then the rest of you can be one big Happy Club.

I think most people thought it was absolutely shite, a nadir for the sport. Some close results did not mask that virtually every game was horrendously boring for 60 mins before the race for the final score in the last 10 mins.

Can't wait. Think we will be victorious. Just don't see how Donegal will handle kinsella , Duke , Costello, Morris.
In keoghan and raff we have the players to nullify anything Donegal throw at us.
Could be completely wrong. But honestly can't see anything other than a Meath victory by a few

Quote from: snoopdog on June 11, 2025, 05:47:33 PMHow big a stadium do these muppets in the Ulster council want?
The fact is this stadium will be empty for 360 days a year. That's factoring in a generous 3 sell outs for ulster semis ( as rare as hens teeth) and final.
It's not central enough for all Ireland series neutral games.
It might get 3 concerts year.
Jarlath Burns has been very poor here.

Yes, only three potential  sell outs per year , at most.

I can't remember the  format next year , but from this week's  neutral games , the only potential  match Casement might host would  be  Monaghan v Down , or at a  very big push,  Derry v Dublin or Tyrone v Cavan.

Even then, the last two doesn't make much sense

You can be sure this would be hosted in a new Casement, to make the economics work if for no other reason. Maybe a double header with one of the other aforementioned fixtures.

Quote from: Wildweasel74 on April 17, 2025, 09:45:17 PMI don't understand the thinking most up north want border poll. Who are these people? It's never a conversation at work. Fball match. Nites out. Nobody on a decent pension in the future, will vote against it going.People see the disorganisation in govt up here. Then see bigger issues down south. A border poll in the morning, wouldn't even be remotely close, how people think it would amazes me. Lose that one, u be another 20yrs before another. Talk about not reading the room. Until work wages, pensions, road networks, cost of living. Immigration. Possible political violence are addressed the status quo will never change. And no point saying, we sort it all out later. People didn't know what they were voting for with Brexit. They want to know excately what they voting for in a poll and just Irish patriotism will not cut it.

Was the last time you crossed the border in the 1980s?

But it was definitely a square ball, no matter what rules anyone dreams up.

EC showing a cynical side already. They need to tread carefully. They'll never beat Kilcoo with 14 men. Never. Ever.

You sir are a disgrace to our county

Speaks for the whole county more like.

He could hardly hold onto a ball in midfield and couldn't pass to the required level. Fan favourite among some as he showed a bit of pashun and popped up with a few goals, but he was a net negative to the team. No top side in the EPL would have him.

Was he not one of your best players last year? I found it strange but what's the story?

He spent half the season at another club?

Quote from: snoopdog on July 14, 2024, 08:13:45 AMDown have a massive learning curve for next year. Div 2 won't be easy. We kicked some poor wides yesterday. And while we never looked like losing, croke pk seems to hold a fear factor for us. That goal line scramble at thr end could've ended up disastrously for Down. A game that shouldve been won a lot easier could also have been lost very easily.
Final won, move on and I'm sure Laverty has already begun planning for next year.

Not an expert on football, but Downs in game superiority never seems to be reflected on the scoreboard, Sligo was very much proof of that and yesterday going into the final few minutes with a five point lead looked to be enough and ultimately was, but that goal at the end made it a more nervous wait than it needed to be.

There'll be a lot less possession for Down next year in Div2 and in the Sam Maguire, so whatever possession we do get needs to count.

I think Down are so error prone in part because they're mostly not punished for it in Div 3/Tailteann Cup as they're considerably stronger than most other teams. They'll have to tighten up next year or the Division 2 & Sam stay might be a short one.

Quote from: SouthOfThe Bann on July 14, 2024, 07:19:42 PMIf you're from one of the three counties in Ulster that are not occupied and you have worked down south as in far down south you soon realise that the people down there throw all of Ulster under the one canvas.

I've grown to have more of an affinity with all the Ulster teams because of that.

Having said that I'm slightly torn as I have a love of Galway too but if it was Mayo or Kerry in the final etc I'd be 100% in favour of Armagh.

I suppose they throw the Ulster teams under the Ulster canvas? And Galway/Mayo/Sligo/Roscommon?leitrim under the Connacht canvas and so on?

Quote from: inthrough on July 02, 2024, 10:25:13 PMA lot will depend on the fitness of Kelly, Walsh and Comer.
If they are all fit then Galway will be favourites and rightfully so. If not then Donegal have every chance.
One thing Donegal need to develop is the ability to find a full forward with a long kick pass. What they do they do very well but it is a bit one dimensional.

Very unlikely Kelly will be fit. He's been struggling all year and hasn't been playing well. In his current condition he's actually not much of a loss. Galway would be much better off with a fully fit player in there. At 100% he'd get on any team in the country but he hasn't been that player this year.

Walsh looked like he went off holding his hamstring, which (if accurate) is hard to fix in 2 weeks.

Dublin going for an early blitz to finish the match early

Curse of the commentator after the potential of "a real classic" was mentioned twice within the first 6 minutes.
