Well done Down. A brilliant performance from them and the less said about us the better.

Very sad to hear that Michael Langan likely out for the year. He was absolutely flying.

Quote from: weareros on April 19, 2026, 08:52:47 PMThe Ulster Fry has the soda farl, potato bread which you wont find in a traditional Irish fry (who the feck has time to mix flour and mash potato in the morning). The Irish fry's unique ingredient is the white pudding, which is not endemic to English or Ulster Fry, although now copied because its so good. Beans in a fry is English. Hash browns American.
We live in a global village so we can eat what we want! Vegetable Roll?

Indeed, and let him who has not enjoyed a little Irish, Scots, English fusion cast the first spud.

It's pronounced purdy.

I need to brush up on the oul Ulster Scots although it would seem that the Ulster-Scots "purdy" "pritta" comes for Irish for spuds, Prátaí.

Might do. Tattie hoaking (sp?) was a common saying at home. Lads had to head away to Scotland to pick purdies and send money home. But we used it to describe picking spuds anywhere.

[Sorry for the random diversion]

If we win it'll be for 2 reasons (a) we went flat out and (b) Kerry didn't give a sh1te.
If we lose it'll be for 2 reaons (a) we didn't give a sh1te and (b) Kerry went flat out.

I'd love us to win a national title. As was mentioned above, most counties (including us) have won feck all and it'd be great for the lads to have that title to their name.

Kerry a good bit ahead of the pack though, so all yerra aside, I think the result will depend on how much they want to lay down a marker.

Beat me to it,

Donegal clearly have no interest in making a league final but may well end up there if results stay as they are  ;D

It could well be true that we don't have a big interest in a league final, but don't let the scoreline suggest that we're just taking it handy. Monaghan are playing well and it's a good tight battle. We just got a lucky goal when Beggan was turned over soloing the ball out.

Good win for Donegal. Maybe the O'Donnell park hoodoo is behind us at last.

Mayo looked like they didn't really give a sh1t.

The issue for me is not the buzzer, it's that the game clock didn't start until the ball was played like a basketball clock. On every other occasion in the game, the ref restarted the clock BEFORE play resumed. Assuming the screen clock was correct, then there were 2 seconds to go. Ref should have restarted the clock and then blew the whistle. No way Kerry should have been allowed to get a score.

Quote from: In hiding on December 16, 2025, 02:41:57 PMA question for Donegal men on here.
Was Mc Brearty better than Colm Mc Fadden ?

He never had a flawless season like McFadden did in 2012.

I think he was more consistent over his career than McFadden though.

I would agree with this. Paddy a level above because he delivered relatively consistently over 14 years. Colm Anthony had several solid years and one exceptional one.

A great servant for Donegal - 14 years of senior football is good going. Despite everyone knowing it was coming, that cut in from the RHS for a sweet strike off that left peg was incredibly effective over the last few years.

GRMA Paddy - some great days. The winner against Armagh in 2014 is probably the one that sticks out for me.

Love the Ryder cup and looking forward to a weekend on the sofa watching what will hopefully be a narrow EU win.

Well done to Kerry, a brilliant display and by far the better team. Possessions lead to shots and shots lead to scores - we simply didn't have enough possessions because Kerry were so assured for their own KO and did very well against ours. White was class as was P Clifford. Lots of stuff to lament from us but not sure that we were good enough to beat them no matter what. It was a good year in some ways, retained Ulster and went one step further to the final ... but who knows when we'll make it back again.

He said something they probably all think, it's a job & his family is more important. Obviously easy to say when you are worth as much as he is

Enjoyed that interview to be fair an interesting perspective from someone at the top of the game. He is a Christian so he's hardly going to go on the rip for a month.

Fitzpatrick looks to top form and Harmon is well suited to the links

Agree. You'd never find Christians going on the rip at all at all. Feckin Christians.

Quote from: thewobbler on July 14, 2025, 12:07:45 PMClifford is the best player I've ever seen, the perfect forward.

He would seem to have a better big game to quiet game ratio than any inside forward I can remember. His quiet games tend to involve 5 points.

Those who might laud Canavan, Joyce, Connolly, O'Neill, Cooper, McDonnell, Coulter, Linden, McManus, O'Callaghan, Walsh as being better, I would suggest have their own biases to deal with.

Simple way to sort the argument would be to have their championship score averages listed. I imagine that Clifford would cone out on top.

So Cillian O'Connor it is then.
